GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –-(Ammoland.com)- Organizers of the Rocky Mountain Western States Regional IDPA Championship, initially scheduled to take place July 4-6 2013 in Montrose, Colorado, have announced that the match is being canceled in the wake of Colorado’s recently passed gun control laws.
An estimated 300-plus shooters from the neighboring states and across the country were expected to attend the three-day competitive shooting event. This is the second shooting competition to abandon the state after a recent announcement by firearms maker Ruger that it was moving the 2013 Ruger Rimfire Challenge World Championship out of Colorado.
“With these new Colorado laws going into effect July 1, and based on the ambiguous way in which they were written, we have decided to cancel the Rocky Mountain Western States Regional IDPA Championship,” said event organizer Walt Proulx of Grand Junction.
“Due to the growing number of hunters and shooters choosing to boycott Colorado, and the risk that these laws as written will turn law-abiding citizens into criminals, we were left with no other choice but to cancel what was planned to be one of IDPA’s major regional championships, and one strongly supported by Montrose-area businesses.”
Cancellation of the Rocky Mountain Western States Regional adds to the negative economic impact resulting from the passage of Colorado’s recent gun control legislation. Already, Colorado-based firearms accessories manufacturer Magpul Industries Corp. has announced its intention to leave the state, and Michael Bane, an independent producer for the Outdoor Channel, has said he will cease production of four of the channel’s popular shooting programs in Colorado.

I doubt the liberals and Hispanics who vote for gun grabbing Democrats in Colorado give a damn about this. In fact, they are probably applauding.
And Colorado voters, with reddened and glazed eyes, lit another doob in celebration, sorrow, or whatever, man....

In 1980, I was brought to Denver to interview with a very well known defense contractor there just outside the city up in the foothills of the Rockies.
I got to Denver late the night before and got some cryptic instructions about how to get to the facility from my hotel in Denver. On the way, the next morning, my rental car was barraged with snow and ice grenades from a bunch of Mexicans downtown and a whole lot of swearing, etc.
I decided then and there I would not take the job (it was offered). Colorado, even then, was a far far cry from what I’d experienced being stationed at Pete Field in 1970 for about 5 months. Just another blue state as far as I’m concerned. (for those who say the rest of CO is okay, I say “if you don’t have control over your legislature, you don’t have squat”.

Several years ago I read of a long range shooting competition that used explosives as the target. Was that in Colorado?

Liberals maybe, Hispanic i think not.
Hispanics are a huge part of the problem in Colorado. They are overwhelmingly Democrat voters and their population in Colorado is exploding. They are now 21% of the CO population and are a big part of the reason we have completely lost this state. Don't kid yourself, Hispanics support big government and could care less if a gun competition is cancelled. These are solid Democrat voters.
CO is a long way from the border. I saw lots of Hispanics in Utah of all places.
And for the stylish trout fisherman (mostly in other states) who previously outlawed live bait fishing for kids and helped to push more environmentalism, the drought is on for this year, too. Reservoirs are being drained for water for the cities. No precipitation to speak of since last year. Fire bans are highly likely if not already implemented, and no recreational firing of firearms due to drought conditions. Eventually, there will be sandstorms.

The environmentalist/animal-worshiper majority on the Range is all white, mostly elderly, upper-middle-class, busybody, anti-manufacturing, anti-mining, anti-drilling, feminists and SNAGs (sensitive New Age guys) in both political parties, riding high in politics on large government and government-linked pensions. They love HOAs and local corruption, continuing to reelect it cycle after cycle. NIMBYs: the eyes, ears and mouths of Big Sister. Even counties with large Republican majorities are steeped in regulations for Agenda 21.
And most of the socialist, bipartisan majority on the Range is originally from northeastern states, whether by way of California or not, and by the surnames, obviously mostly of Germanic descent. And they work hard against any uranium test drilling or mining, BTW. And dey love der twees—der pwetty twees—much more than people. Hansel and Gretel, beware.
