US reportedly sends F-22 jets to join South Korea drills

Published March 31, 2013

The United States has reportedly sent F-22 stealth fighter jets to South Korea to join Seoul forces in military drills as North Korea warns the Korean Peninsula has entered "a state of war."

The F-22 Raptors were deployed to Osan Air Base in South Korea from Japan on Sunday to support ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills, Reuters reports.

North Korea has increased its threatening rhetoric in recent weeks, including vowing to launch a nuclear strike on Washington. In a statement released Sunday, U.S. military in South Korea urged North Korea to restrain itself.

"(North Korea) will achieve nothing by threats or provocations, which will only further isolate North Korea and undermine international efforts to ensure peace and stability in Northeast Asia," the statement said.

Meanwhile, North Korea said Saturday its armed forces, "will blow up U.S. bases for aggression in its mainland and in the Pacific operational theatres including Hawaii and Guam."

I remember going to Osan and feeling like I’d gone to the big city. They had a burger king and everything.

North Korea will collapse like a wet ice cream cone if attacked.

As far as I’m concerned, this is mindless posturing on the part of our brave CIC and his newly-annointed stooge, Chuck Hagel.

I was taught not to point a weapon unless I intended to use it. Our military has been defanged by Obama, and everybody in the world knows he doesn’t have the the will or the balls to use it effectively.

Kerry will take a HUGE goodie basket, too. Here! More oil! More food! If you stop being bad, maybe even some F-16s, too!

I think it is a little different now. 63 years of communist/socialist rule has collapsed their economy. Their people are starving.

“North Korea will collapse like a wet ice cream cone if attacked.”

And likewise make a big mess in the process.

The outcome would never, ever be in question. But there are a few million folks in both Koreas that would be very inconvenienced in the process.

It really makes me nervous to see Bammy playing chicken with the Norks. I can forsee a situation where Bammy over reacts and get us in very bad situation where everyone of our executive branch politicians (Obama, Biden, Hagel, Kerry) will be in way over their heads and makes a bad decision. God help us.

Does North Korea even have a modern air force or are they still flying old Russian MIGS?

They have old MIGs (-17s) and newer ones as well, up to and including Fulcrums (MIG-29s).

At this point I don't think we can afford not to. I don't think this one understands the game of bluster and puffery in quite the same way his daddy and grand daddy did, and you still had folks killed in the south under their regimes.

They still are a client state of China. China will not take kindly to the usurper messing around in their back yard. Quantity still has a quality of its own.

Ya know, come the right circumstances China may choose to let NK go a step too far, creating a sinkhole for the USA there while China springs another “none of your business” attack elsewhere.
Some megalomaniacs realize flunkies make great disposable distraction targets in a pinch.
