Leading gun-control advocate Mark Kelly warned Republican senators Sunday that trying to block a vote on new firearms legislation that includes universal background checks could hurt their re-election efforts.

Kelly, a former astronaut and Navy captain, directed his remarks to Sens. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, among five Republican senators who have suggested they will filibuster a debate and full floor vote.

“They should listen to their constituents” and not get in the way of the debate, Kelly told “Fox News Sunday.”

Isn’t there a baby seal out there for him to harass or maim or kill?

I love that. Leading gun-grabber is basically telling Republicans to disregards their constituents and surrender! What an a-hole!

“They should listen to their constituents” and not get in the way of the debate, Kelly told “Fox News Sunday.”

Right, because everyone that elected a Republican to represent them in the Senate did so in the hopes that they'd lay down and make sure gun control rolled right through. Isn't that why people always elect Republicans? [eyeroll]

Rubio might be hurt by participating in a filibuster; however, it will score big points with Paul, Cruz, and Lee’s constituents.

No more gun control.

None.

Anywhere. For any reason. Stop it.

Yeah, really — go help club another baby seal with your untrained pit bull, Kelly.

A cheater on his first wife, smarmy, shady sleezoid, why didn’t YOUR wife listen to her constituents on CommieCare? She told us she knew better than us, the vast majority of her constituents. In fact, the phone calls, letters, visits to office, and protests were overwhelmingly against CommieCare. But, Gabby decreed that the elites had spoken. (And subsequently, she received the world’s finest brain therapy, something our wounded vets will never get.)

“Fortunately, Mr. Kelly doesn’t live in my state, and my constituents are wiser, more honest, and not corrupt like Mr. Kelly. They oppose gun control, and rightly, so if I’m going to represent their wishes I have to do so too.”

Kelly, save your empty rhetoric for your liberal pawns.

Americans will continue to defend themselves against all attempts at tyranny.

No Republican will be hurt by supporting this filibuster.
Rubio would benefit the most from it the primaries because he will need something to blunt the criticism he will surely receive due to his expected pro amnesty vote.

“They should listen to their constituents”

Seems to me that are listening to their constituents by threatening to filibuster.

I’m a constituent of Senator Marco Rubio. I support the fillibuster and wonder why it took him so long to get on board, but I’m glad he is. Funny all these polls showing overwhelming support for universal background checks...my phone has never rang!

Mark. Stick to being a good ASStronaut and stick to the US Constitution you have sworn to defend as a military officer. See Article Two of the Bill of Rights while you are at it. And godspeed.

Someone should inform Kelly, that, just because your wife was shot, doesn’t mean we want that for our wives and daughters. We want to protect our families

The republicans would debate the issue but Reid does not allow debate. He shuts them out, lies and believes his voice, and the voices of his minions are the only ones with freedom of speech.

No Mr. Kelly, we will fight for the Constitution and our rights! God be with us all.
