Actor Jim Carrey’s “Cold Dead Hand” video unleashed a firestorm of outrage among conservatives and gun-rights advocates—and for good reason. In one pathetic song, Carrey, who enjoys the protection of an armed bodyguard, mocks the nearly 90 million gun owners in this country, Charlton Heston and rural America. Allahpundit over at Hot Air summed it up best when he said the song is “neither funny nor biting” but rather, is “basically an extended dick joke of the sort that’s been thrown at gun owners for decades.” Indeed.
But it seems Carrey couldn’t handle Greg Gutfeld’s criticism on Fox News. The actor released a ludicrous and semi-coherent statement on Friday in response, which called Fox News “Fux News,” and referred to the network as a “giant culture fart,” and a “media colostomy bag.” Wow:
Since I released my “Cold Dead Hand” video on Funny or Die this week, I have watched Fux News rant, rave, bare its fangs and viciously slander me because of my stand against large magazines and assault rifles. I would take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery. That would gain them far too much attention which is all they really care about.
I’ll just say this: in my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.
I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure.
I wish them all the luck that accompanies such malevolence.
The Five didn’t let this one go—all of them, including Bob Beckel, took shots at the “comedian’s” remarks. “Our country is great because washed-up comics have the right to suck,” Gutfeld said. “I love the First Amendment—and Twitter especially—for it exposes the soft underbelly of the celebrity simple mind. They undo everything their publicists try to mask.
Gutfeld exposes the soft underbelly of simple-minded celebs
Why does this matter? As Katie pointed out in her post on Carreys video, Culture and Hollywood trump politics on every issue, all the time. Its important that the Right fights back and exposes Hollywoods hypocrisy and idiocy for what it is.
Another Hollywood cockroach dissing mainstream America. This won’t end well for Jimbo.
So what did FOX say about Cary that Cary didn’t like?
“unleashed a firestorm of outrage among conservatives”
No he did not,
We conservatives don’t care enough about him to be upset. We just watched maybe 25% of it switched it off and hung our heads thinking this country can sure raise very stupid people.
Hope this guys career goes the way of the Dipsy Chicks, and
imagine he will be whining about the evil right wing when
he tanks.
I heard Robin Williams called up Jim Carrey. He wants his act back.
That he is a washed up hypocrite who took shots at Charlton Heston who stood up for civil rights when the Democrats wouldn't... you know the truth.
I don’t think we can take credit for raising this one; I believe he’s Canadian.
I often wonder how America would be right now if we had never invented movies or Tv.
Before that, the only actor I can think of who made a permanent impact on American culture was John Wilkes Booth, and it wasn’t his acting.
He'll be on Celebrity Rehab inside of two years, is my guess. His behavior is bizarre.
I forget who said it, but it went something like “The worst thing for any entertainer to do is voice their opinion on politics because right there they will lose half their audience no matter what side they take”. Absolutely absolutely true. Look at Oprah for example endorsing Obama. Boom, overnight half her audience was gone. Same with Rosie ODonnell, overnight no more career. These people are freakin’ morons.
Jim Carrey is a cultural fart who has not only lost his comedic edge, he has lost his mind.
Has anyone else noticed that Greg Gutfeld has had a bit more edge to him since Andrew died? I think that’s a good thing. He’s taking stuff 100% seriously now, yet still laughing.
Its fun to spew it out but blowback’s a beach. :-)
“Another Hollywood cockroach dissing mainstream America. This wont end well for Jimbo.”
Jim, two words to remember “Dixie Chicks”
Yea. I’ve never understood what happened in the 20th century. Movies? Was that it? Before the 20th century actors (sociologically) were only half a step above prostitutes. And, compensated/revered accordingly.
About celebrities losing half their audiences... Case in point is Conan O’Brien. I thought the guy was hilarious before he became super-democrat. Now I can’t watch him. I’d rather watch a Seinfeld rerun than hear him STILL ripping on Sarah Palin. I swear the guy is on the democrat payroll. His job: remind people just before they fall asleep that Republicans aren’t cool.
If I were Fox I would not hit that jackass every day for at least a weak. Nitwit is insane and maybe it would push his ass in the funny farm.
