But, in the next two years, Republicans are looking to bring the issue back in a big way. And theyll start by trying to brand the law as one that costs too much and is not working as promised.
Democrats will be tempted to continue to write off the incoming fire as the empty rhetoric of a party fighting old battles. But that would be a mistake. During the health care debate, the GOPs coordinated attacks helped turn public opinion against reform. And in the past two years, no more than 45 percent of the public has viewed Obamacare favorably, according to the Kaiser Family Foundations tracking polls. Perhaps even more dangerous for Democrats, now-debunked myths spread by Republicans and conservative media remain lodged in the public consciousness. For instance, 40 percent of the public still believes the law includes death panels.
In the next two year????
Why not NOW!!
answer: THE GOP SUPPORTS OBAMACARE/ROMNEYCARE
or they would have passed a bill to kill it yesterday.
Shhhhhhhbh it’s a secret!!!
Um...the death panels are not a myth. They aren’t called death panels formally, but that is just what they are.
My secret is that I despise Democrats and Republicans alike. Same critter, different restroom or coat closet.
I’m not a big fan of McConnell...but his strategy here seems pretty good given the realities of the Senate.
How about before we get rid of Obamacare, we bring back US jobs?
What is the GOP going to do?
Either back US jobs. Or don’t. But if you don’t back US jobs, then get out of the way as for who pays for healthcare, because it’s not going to work as an employer paid benefit if you do not have a JOB.
Stop getting rid of US jobs. Then we’ll talk.
You have got to be kidding me.
That is similar to the treasonous concept that USG can pass a bill before they look at it.
The majority of Repubs are not on our side. There _are_ some great congressmen, though.
Are they going to employ this strategy before or after they organize their way out of a paper bag?
Why does this evoke images of Animal House scenes?
Oh yes, it’s very complex, we must pretend to support it to defeat it. /s
Bullshit!! there is no Republican plan to repeal obamacare, secret or not. That is what the Republican candidates said in 2009 and 2010, “Elect me and I will repeal obamacare” and I do believe that , for the most part, those saying that had the intention to do so. However, when they got to Congress, they were neutralized by the Republican leadership who had absolutely no intention or desire to repeal obamacare. In 2010 I bit on that line, but since I have learned. Learned what? The main difference between the Republican Party and Democrat Party is is the spelling.
I would like to see a bit of deception attached to an otherwise relatively benign piece of legislation that requires reconciliation - as the final compromise is drafted, a decent American in Congress, even an aide, could insert one sentence that repeals ObamaCare. No one reads these bills in detail, especially not when they come back from committee. Obama would sign it too, and then we are closer to restoring freedom than we have been since the socialist took power.
We can’t fight the massive sleaze and corruption of the far left effectively and still follow Marquess of Queensberry rules. The best part is that this would not require McCain, Boehner, Romney, or any other “leader” to do something difficult like stand up for the Constitution. All it would require is a single staffer willing to take advantage of the laziness of our corrupt ruling class.
That's a bizarre thing to say. Of course it includes death panels. Committees which will determine what medical procedures can be used, and who can qualify to receive those procedures. Our health is in the hands of unelected, cold-hearted, influence-peddling bureaucrats.
