A boy sexually abused by his adoptive father and his gay partner was labelled an ‘unruly child’ by social workers who ignored his complaints for years, a damning report has revealed.
They sent Andy Cannon, now 23, back to the couple’s home despite his protests of abuse, praising the gay man who adopted him as a ‘very caring parent’.
The report accuses Wakefield social services, in Yorkshire, of ‘folly and gross misjudgment’. Mr Cannon, who was wrongly diagnosed with mental disorders and prescribed anti-psychotic drugs, believes he would have been listened to sooner if his adoptive father wasn’t gay.
The case ended last year, after half a decade of legal wrangling, when a court ordered a £25,000 compensation payment to Mr Cannon.
Mr Cannon, now a father of two himself, was adopted by David Cannon in 1997.
He and his mother, Elaine Moss, repeatedly complained to social workers about the abuse. In 2004, he was returned to Cannon’s care nine days after running away and making a complaint about him.
Cannon, 54, and his 31-year-old partner John Scarfe were each jailed for 30 months in May 2006 for inciting sexual activity with a child.
Mr Cannon said: ‘I believe if my adoptive dad was in a heterosexual relationship then my complaints would have been listened to earlier.

I don’t believe gay couples should be adopting children. With that said, I don’t see this a pox against gay people, but rather against these incompetent government agencies. When you give a government the power to judge who is and who isn’t a fit parent, you get situations like these. Since this was reported in the Daily Mail, I am going to assume that this happened across the pond, but it happens here in the States too. Children are almost always placed back into abusive homes and removed from good ones.

Well, it’s just logical that if they’re going to redefine pedophilia away from homosexuality, we’ll have to define it away from heterosexuality too. But they’re fooling themselves. Many adults like young partners (or victims) and it seems to align with their sexual preference. If someone molests small children, boys and girls, indiscriminately, I suppose we can agree he is a pedophile (or better yet, a corpse.) But if a man who has adult male partners also enjoys young boys, I don’t see how anyone can deny the facts of the situation.
Gays want to adopt babies thinking they will provide the unconditional love they never got anywhere else in life, even if it means queering a child who would otherwise be straight. Get a dog.
Can a single heterosexual male adopt a female baby? Can a single homosexual male adopt a boy? Scary questions aren’t they? This is where it is all going. Children commoditized for the wants of an emotionally adolescent culture.
I happen to spend many hours a day surfing criminal court arraignment sites around this country and reading the judicial summaries of some of these charges is sickening!
Anybody who still supports homosexual adoptions should have their heads examined. Someone has to investigate just how many of these adoptions end with the so-called parents being dragged into criminal court while the child(s) life is ruined!

I got into an argument with a gal at the gym over the exact thing.
She just couldn't make the connection that an adult male having sex with a male child is a homosexual. To her, a male pedophile was not a homosexual........
