In the current political climate surrounding the hot topic of gun control, there has been much attention focused on the subject of "gun owner paranoia." One mainstream news agency after another has decried the lack of progress regarding the gun control bills currently stagnating in Congress due to gun owners' supposed fears regarding gun bans and firearms confiscation.
However, despite the government assurances that gun confiscation is off the table, a sentiment that is being echoed by voices within the mainstream press, the reality is that guns have already been confiscated within U.S. borders in the past and this practice continues to affect law-abiding gun owners to this day.
Beyond confirming gun owners' fears regarding the issue of firearms confiscation, the mainstream media has alluded that the government's proposal to ban so-called "assault weapons" is, fair, equitable, and as far as the newly proposed gun control legislation will go. Other types of firearms would supposedly be left alone. However, despite the reassuring rhetoric, there are elements currently working within the government who not only want to ban so-called "assault weapons", but who also want to include handgun bans in future gun control measures as well.
So, the law-abiding gun owner's distrust of government intentions regarding gun control has a demonstrated basis in reality. The question is, should this distrust of government be a phenomenon that is exclusive to gun owners?

Short answer: NO.
Long answer: HELL NO.
Heck no. IMO, it’s also people who don’t belong to a “protected class” that should distrust the government.
It should extend beyond just gun owners, but in many cases it does not. Too many of us are content to trade our freedom for entitlement, government cradle-to-grave subjugation.
Individuality and freedom are a lost commodity to over half of this country’s population. Couple this with an ever increasing influx of both legal and illegal immigrants whose sole goal is to reap the riches of this country without the hard work or contributions, and you have the makings of a complete disaster in our near future.
If you believe Democrats, this country is a country of victims and special interest groups whose main identifying characteristics is that they are not traditional Judeo-Christian Whites - and they have ALL been victimized, ARE victimized daily by the “man” (i.e., the old white man to be exact).

LOL! the entire basis of our Founding was 'distrust of government'!
And government really hasn't given us much of a reason to trust it since.
Distrust? Paranoia? Who is it that sets up metal detectors and scanners to enter building?
Who is it that wants to disarm the American citizen while heavily arming themselves?
Would anyone but a fool trust a liar?
The United States is a country FOUNDED on DISTRUST OF GOVERNMENT.
The only reason our bill of rights exists at all is because of our distruct for government.
That anyone could ever “trust” government, though they’re the majority on Earth.
Why would anyone EVER trust the government for anything? The most venal characters in existence enter government “service” for the purpose of gaining power their personal qualities would never give them.
If We gun owners are the only group that distrusts or suspects the government and want to hold them accountable....this game is over even before it starts.
Trust but verify at the very least.

Perhaps citizens remember that when the income tax was first passed, it was only levied on the rich and it was stated that it would never exceed 3%.
When the government’s nose gets into the tent of our constitutional rights, it inexorably takes over the tent until there are no more rights.
Our entire constitution is based on a mistrust of government.
One of modern history’s great ironies is that it is the ‘protected ones’ who more often than not wind up looking at the world the wrong way through a razor wire fence.
Those whom they enable and put into positions of absolute have little use for them once they’re achieve their aims.
No question to this question especially when Dems run things.
