Sebelius: Yep, ObamaCare is raising insurance costs (Listen up low information voters!)
Human Events ^ | 03/27/13 | John Hayward

Posted on 03/27/2013 8:59:16 AM PDT by AngelesCrestHighway

A watershed moment in the ongoing disaster of ObamaCare, as Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius finally admits that health insurance premiums are rising because of the President’s health insurance takeover, per the Wall Street Journal:

Ms. Sebelius’s remarks come weeks before insurers are expected to begin releasing rates for plans that start on Jan. 1, 2014, when key provisions of the health law kick in. Premiums have been a sensitive subject for the Obama administration, which is counting on elements in the health law designed to increase competition among insurers to keep rates in check. The administration has pointed to subsidies that will be available for many lower-income Americans to help them with the cost of coverage.

The secretary’s remarks are among the first direct statements from federal officials that people who have skimpy health plans right now could face higher premiums for plans that are more generous. She noted that the law requires plans to provide better benefits and treat all customers equally regardless of their medical claims.

It would be nice if the insurance companies identified the increase as the “Obamacare premium.”

Sebelius may soon wish she had a less stressful position...maybe something like explosive ordinance disposal.

They didn’t want to listen to the Actuaries, who are very smart and do this for a living. Of course, lawmakers are so much more intelligent since they make decisions out of feelings rather than facts.
Has anyone ever thought about the fact that if we get the “one payer system” how many people working in the insurance system will lose their jobs?

ROFL! ObamaDoesn'tCare isn't about increasing competition or keeping costs/rates down.

Dems probably figure that they'll just move over to all the new bureaucratic jobs created at HHS. That way, they grow the size of the federal government and they get a bunch of new public union members. Win/win from their perspective.

"They didn’t want to listen to the Actuaries, who are very smart and do this for a living."

This despite the fact it doesn't take an actuary to figure out that if you increace beneficiaries, benefits, claims and overhead that premiums are going to have to rise too.

he also said I’d save $2500 a year on premiums.

My BC/BS has already gone up $4800 since then
