Study: Health law will raise claim costs in Washington (state)
KOMO TV NEWS (Seattle) ^ | 3/26/2013

OLYMPIA, Wash. - A study by the Society of Actuaries estimates that the new federal health care law will raise medical claims costs in Washington state by an average of 13.7 percent per person.

Medical claims costs are the main driver of health insurance premiums. The study estimates that President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act will raise claims costs nationally by an average of 32 percent per person in the individual health insurance market by 2017. That's partly due to sicker people joining the pool.

The study finds wide disparities among states, and it did not make similar estimates for employer plans, the mainstay for workers and their families.

The estimates assume every state will expand its Medicaid program. Gov. Jay Inslee supports expanding Medicaid in Washington state.

Did he lie?

You can bet, he will blame insurance providers for gouging and not doing enough to maintain costs (our have already gone up 20% in 2013, by the way).

That will then lead to a nationalizing of the insurance industry in order to avert a national crisis.

It's all pre-planned to do so.

The federal government has no constitutional authority to be involved in health care and should stay out.

If they want to reduce costs, health insurance should not be used to cover routine doctor visits and prescriptions. Individuals should pay for these out of their own pockets. No claims to file or process. Insurance should cover catastrophic illnesses, accidents, hospital stays and or very expensive procedures, tests, etc.

States and local governments can decide on how many walk-in clinics, etc, they should provide for the poor and how they should be administered.

And I believe most of the obama voters WANT nationalized insurance.

How anyone could vote for a democrat after Pelosi’s stupid statement is beyond comprehension.

The interesting thing is that they are calling it “President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act”. I mean, we all know that it is his, but the the media is generally working hard to make sure the average low info voter doesn’t really get the relationship, or better yet, can be connived into blaming republicans for the increase.

It’s interesting they are giving Obama ownership of a negative.

"Medical claims costs are the main driver of health insurance premiums."

This is why Health Savings Accounts (HSA) tend to work well. People are better at budgeting and managing their own affairs than government.

"Obamacare eliminates Health Savings Accounts."

Of course it does. Obama is adamantly opposed to self determination and personal responsibility.
