The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world's finest collections of historic ships, including the world's oldest active ship Star of India.

Founded in 1948, the museum grew out of the earlier efforts of a group of local historians and maritime enthusiasts who acquired the sailing ship Star of India in 1927. Now fully restored, the Star of India is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers and skilled craftsmen and sailed at least once a year.

The museum’s collection also includes the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley, the 1904 steam yacht Medea, the 1914 Pilot, the state’s official tall ship Californian-a replica of a mid 19th century revenue cutter, the H.M.S Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award winning film “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.” and the USS Dolphin a treasure of technology and research and a former US Navy research submarine.

Well we got some snow last night. But not much. Supposed to be in the mid 40’s for awhile so it’ll be gone soon.

I’m doin’ pretty good. Just dealin’ with some arthritis in the shoulder and hand. Have to train myself to do more things with my left hand. LOL

:)

Ouch! Arthritis stinks! I guess I have it off and on, too, but probably not to the extent that you do.

Have developed plantar fasciitis lately, though, and it’s been a pain...in the foot. It seems to be a bit better this week, so fingers crossed! :)

We had a blizzard and my house a new foot of white stuff.

It was quite a deal getting to work this morning. Thankfully everyone was being a good driver, because you could see no curbs, no lanes, and no road dividers. And the roads were quite slick....mostly a 25 to 30 mph drive, all the time heavy snow coming down.

They even let us leave 2 hours early....roads just as nasty, but it was much lighter out. Looks like Thursday might be the first day above freezing....time to melt this stuff.

Hope your day was good. ((HUGS))

Aloha Connie! ((HUGS))

Once a long time ago I was at North Island, Coronado. One of my favorite spots but certainly not one of my favorite details.
