Farmers fear that thousands of sheep and cattle have died in the snow that has hit in recent days.

Northern Ireland farmer Catherine Crawford said: "There are hundreds of farmers who have sheep buried."

"We are very, very, anxious," said Carolyn Lamb from NFU Scotland, who added that the full toll would not be known until the snow melted.

The NFU said hundreds of animals were lost in England and Wales, with Cumbria and Shropshire worst hit.

"There are animals going to die here and are dying; we need help out in the rural areas," said Ms Crawford. ...

They need help - and if I were there - I would be helping these farmers and their distressed stock. Of course, there is no help from the professional spongers of the global warming lobby.

Get used to it it’s the “new normal”. Weather is going to be extreme due to climate change. It might intolerably cold or scorching hot or yet unseasonably mild. So much milder than we’ve ever seen in recorded history, and that only undesrcores the severity of climate change. And it’s all the fault of rich white Americans who own guns.

Too much to hope for that any of this carnage could help bring meat prices down.

Lobster's cheaper than lamb this Easter in New England.

Not good news for Muslims, because lobster probably isn't halal.

I’m curious - where do the sheep stay when it snows during the real winter season? Was this a freak storm that caught them unawares? Have they been recently sheared?

Used to be weather reports were just that. Now they’re propaganda for climate change proponents. The end goal: carbon taxes on fossil fuels.

Most sheep live out side. putting hundreds of animals in a barn is not fesisable.

Have you ever lived on a farm or did any farming

In spring, many lambs have been recently born, or the ewes are expecting, and not as mobile. Throughout winter, the sheep draw on their stores of winter fat, and become a bit lean. By now, they need a break from the cold weather, they don’t need a snowstorm.

We have nothing to fear but mildness itself.

This winter wasn’t just mild, it was ominously, frighteningly mild. The sort of mild that tells you that it’s just about to get violently mild.

Don’t know about over there but my grandson raises sheep in the midwest. It’s show time in many states for the school kids and breeders for their animals, the momma’s are all sheared and ready to show and it is also lambing season. But they are kept in a barn unless the weather is bad.

Problems do occur when the snow is unusually deep or is unexpected. Sheep are generally unable to care for themselves - and we see that in both the two legged and four legged kinds.

We didn’t have many sheep, but we always had sheep sheds in MD. One made sure that there was a lot of straw when the lambs were coming.

if the snowfall was as it is in Indiana 10-12” and temperatures in the 30’s it shouldn’t bother animals at all
