This Week Transcript (Karl Rove makes 'Fried Chicken" joke to Donna Brazile...)
ABC This Week with George S ^ | 3/24/13 | This Week With George S

STEPHANOPOULOS: That was Bill Clinton after Dukakis's loss in '88.

BRAZILE: That was Bill Clinton after Walter Mondale lost, after Jimmy Carter lost. We had a dynamic governor who was reform minded, who took those reform issues and brought them into the national forefront. He really helped recharge the Democratic Party.

But, you know, the Republican Party is out to lunch. I watched CPAC Charl -- I mean Karl.

(LAUGHTER)

BRAZILE: Charles was a former friend.

ROVE: I thought I was a current friend.

BRAZILE: But you're always a friend, but you owe me some chili.

ROVE: But you owe me some fried chicken.

The GOP-e WANTS to loose. I believe they just the “relief valve” party to give the illusion of choice. We need a new party.

What’s that they say?

“We need to vet these guys better so they don’t run around saying stupid crap and making us look bad.”

Absolutely. The purpose of the GOP is to run interference and ensure future Democrat victories.

Typical hypocrisy by Tokyo Rove. And he’s too stupid and arrogant to understand that he shouldn’t be making fried chicken jokes to a black democrat on national tv. I bet he’ll blame the tea party for his joke.

Karl Rove needs to vet himself.

What kind of person makes fried chicken jokes to black democrats on national TV?

I’ve learned to control the knee jerk reactions. Did anyone bother to think that maybe they bet a bowl of chili vs. fried chicken dinner during a previous conversation and this is a personal joke between the two?

Unless Brazille, Rev. Al and the rest of the African Am. cabal in this country makes a big deal out of this, then it might just a personal joke between the two of them. We’ll see.

Wow. Joking the a black person likes fried chicken is like joking than Italian likes spaghetti or and Irishman likes beer. Oh, the horror!

When I was a kid, everyone made fun of every other ethnic group...and nobody cared (sticks and stones may break my bones...) Now everyone wants to craw up in to a fetal position and cry when they here something they think someone will perceive to be “offensive.” What has happened to America?

In fairness, Donna has joked (?) herself about preferring fried chicken over Chick-fil-a. What she really nneeds is to take that up with her health provider and get back with the president on why her premium rates are increasing. lol

Rove has been in politics for what, 30-40 years? There is no way he is that stupid. He has to know at this point that a speaker must be aware of his audience, who he is speaking to, the weight of cultural references, the tone, etc. Especially on national TV. He may actually be trying to drive normal decent conservatives out of the party or at least force us to distance ourselves from the GOP.

That’s what I read into it. It sounds like a conversation they previously had.

P.S. I still hate Rove

I’ve never heard a Tea Party candidate make a fried chicken joke to a black democrat on national TV. I guess only Tokyo Rove and the RNC/GOP establishment can do such a thing and it’s okay by them.

Sorry, but no. Rove has to be aware that he was speaking on a national forum, and that such a reference would be perceived the wrong way. If it was a personal joke, he should have been aware to keep it personal and off camera.

only Democrats are allowed to be so politically incorrect

Life according to the RNC/GOP-e:

Tone deaf fried chicken jokes by Tea Party candidates = BAD

Tone dead fried chick jokes by Karl Rove = GOOD
