In a dramatic development that occurred just as US President Barack Obama was leaving the country, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke with Turkey's Tayyip Erdogan for the first time since the Israeli prime minister took power in 2009.

Netanyahu voiced regret for the loss of life in the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, apologizing for any mistakes that led to the death of nine Turkish activists. Breaking a three-year deadlock, the two agreed to normalize relations.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed an apology to the Turkish people for any error that may have led to the loss of life, and agreed to complete the agreement for compensation," the statement said.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet. It's big news over here in Europe. Second only to the Cyprus crisis.

That may well be, but I gotta say, this has been good week for Erdogan. Most politicians fantasize about this kind of week every night when they go to sleep, LOL!

I don’t get this. Israel did absolutely nothing wrong. What turkey did was an act of war.

I don’t get it, either. Why do this?

To clear the way for a strike on Iran and to do something regarding the situation in Syria.

You’d want Turkey on your side for those objectives.

If only Vlad Putin could change his last name to Tepes.

Methinks it was a quid pro quo with Obama. Maybe for our help with the Iron Dome or help with Iran. Smells of Chitown politics.

It’s all about geopolitics. Always has been, always will be.

Erdogan: “I’ll let you punch through Turkey to take out Iran’s nukes for the sake of the entire region if you apologize for the Mavi Marmara affair”.

Bibi: “Okay, sure”.

“Vlad Tepes impaled the Turks on wooden poles...”

And what do you think he, a Christian Orthodox, did with the Jews?

Bingo.

Turkey is apprehensive about Iran getting nukes, and they’d be delighted to see that threat erased.

Airspace for an apology? Sure, what the hell; why not?

Historically, Israel and Turkey have been allies, so to me it’s just a re-establishment of the equilibrium.

Why should they be apologizing?

Turkey scr**** us when we wanted to cross into Iraq. I think our relations are weak so what Net is doing makes sense and I believe he’s sincere.

True. We'll see.

Keeping Bibi and Israel in prayer.

I agree.

Also, what’s that sound I’m hearing? Why.....could it be? Yes, it is! It’s Ayatollah Ali Khameni dropping a deuce in his genie pants as he reads this headline being flashed around the world!

He knows damned well what an Israeli-Turkish rapprochement means. It means he’s screwed.

My “apology” would have been something on the order of “We are so sorry that your citizens chose to attack our soldiers and we had to eliminate them for the good of mankind.”

No, Nancy Pelosi screwed us by ticking off the Turks during the run up to the Iraq war with that stupid Armenian atrocity resolution she brought to the house floor.
