Tragedy as 13-month-old toddler is shot dead in his stroller by teenage robber in front of mother
The Daily Mail Online ^ | March 22, 2013 | Harriet Arkell

A distraught mother as told how she pleaded with young robbers to spare her toddler's life before they shot him dead as he slept in his stroller.

Sherry West was pushing her 13-month-old son Antonio yards from their home in Brunswick, Georgia, early yesterday morning when she was approached by two African-American boys.

She told how one of them, who looked about 15, demanded money from her and threatened to kill her if she didn't give him any. She told him she didn't have any.

'He said: "Well, I'm going to kill your baby", and I said "Please don't kill my baby."

Ms West added: 'I put my arms over my baby and then he shoved me and then he shot my baby right in the head.' Ms West began CPR on Antonio but it was in vain and the infant, who had been sleeping when he was shot, died at the scene of the 9am attack.

The child's mother suffered a bullet wound to her leg which needed hospital treatment but was allowed home soon afterwards.

Antonio's father Louis Santiago said he wished he had been there to protect his son.

The robbers are said to be African-American, with one aged about 13-15 years and the other slightly younger. The elder one, who shot the infant, is of thick build with curly hair, while the younger one is aged 10-12. They fled on foot, taking nothing.

Ms West said she only realised the gun was real when she saw that the youth had shot her child dead.

At a news conference after the attack, Mayor Bryan Thompson said: 'This is obviously just a terrible day in the city of Brunswick made even more so by the senseless killing of a young child, and it appears perpetrated by children themselves.

if you are over 12 years of age you should be tried as an adult.

And the parents (or in many cases sperm donors), should also bear at least some of the responsibility.

They are over 12. In my book that makes them adults regarding their responsibility for their treatment of other human beings and their property.

When the EBT riots are going on,
I’m not taking any chances of letting anyone within 20 yards of my family.

They can go elsewhere, for now, if they are truly in need of help.

I don’t want to go there. I put the LEGAL responsibility solely on the perps. Thing is, good parents can have bad kids and vice versa. I don’t want my government getting into that quagmire. I want it simple. You do it, you are responsible. If you didn’t do it, you are not, unless it can be proven in a court of law that you put the person up to it (e.g. paid the hit man to do it).

I read a story like this and I have to go give my child a hug.

If someone did that to my family, they just signed their own death warrant. I don't care how long it took, how much it cost, I WILL find out who did it. I would have my revenge, even if I had to follow them to the gates of Hell to do it.

Well I do believe in cases where parents are shown to have not been around, that represents a form of negligence..Certainly good parents can have bad kids, but that percentage pales in comparison to children born out of wedlock.

teen criminals get up early in the morning?

Perhaps they were still up from the night before, their "day" starting with a game of midnight basketball.

What? A paper called them what they are? Oh, I forgot. It’s a British paper.

Does anybody get it? Feral subhuman barbarian savages are in control. They are promptly forgiven for their crimes by candy-a$$ed liberals who blame the victims.

The country’s in deep $h!t.

Looking at the tears from this couple is a stark reminder of the complete LACK of tears from most if not all of the parents from Sandy Hook.

If the story is true, the two little monsters should be execuuted (though realistically, they will be out on the street to kill more people in a few years).

That said, I’d like to wait to see if the story holds together. I’m not sure the story is false, and it could have happened just as the mother says, but I have some questions:

Why would they shoot the baby in the head, but leave the mother alive to be a witness against them? I realize criminals, especially young ones, do stupid things, but it does seem odd.

It seems strange that the parents, especially the wounded mother would invite a reporter and camera crew in for a TV interview just hours after their baby was murdered in cold blood. Normally, the parents are too distraught and you only see interviews with neighbors and relatives.

The mother seemed very calm, but also seemed to be reaching for her words when she described the killers, but suddenly distraught when talking about the actual shooting. “Two boys approached me and they were, um, 2 African-american boys” sounds a lot more like prepared testimony than “Two black boys came up to me and...”.

The dialogue between the mother and the killers, as described by the mother doesn’t seem realistic, though should could have been paraphrasing.

The father seems oddly calm, neither angry nor distraught, though the clips of him speaking were brief.

The sad sack Liberals are too scared to report on what their welfare state and immigration policies have done to us.

Some of them rejoice in this.

The black claims to have struggled long and hard for their “Rights.” They got their “Rights” it is becoming increasingly obvious as this type of event multiplies, what they are going to do with those “Rights.”

Aye, you speak the truth. But it will be the return fire that will tell the louder story in those days. We aren’t just going to roll over and let them have their way with us.

Don’t get me wrong. I definitely think there is a problem there, but I consider it a thing to be dealt with separately from the actual criminal actions of the kids.

The guitar player in my band comes from that type of family. Lots of kids all from different fathers. His sister is in prison for stabbing a man to death. He always carries a sidearm. He was actually affiliated with the Cornbread Mafia but in a “legal” capacity (guitar player). He was pretty wild and admits it. It’s amazing: When I tell people that have lived here their entire life the name of my guitar player it is amazing how often their face suddenly goes cold. Seriously.

But he had a life changing event a little over a year ago. The change is real to a very significant degree, though he has a ways to go. He even talks of his past as something he is not proud of.

But if he or any of his siblings ever did anything horrendous, regardless of their age at the time, I do not believe their “worse than worthless” mother should suffer legal actions. It’s just one of those things the government needs to leave alone, especially when the constitution is all about INDIVIDUAL rights and responsibilities.
