Oops: New York Governor Wants to Repeal Own Gun Control Law

When New York Governor Andrew Cuomo hastily signed a gun control law limiting New Yorkers to just seven round ammunition magazines, he forgot to exempt police officers. Now, Cuomo is looking to reverse the seven-round magazine portion of the law all together due to seven round magazines not existing in the market place. New Yorkers will still be required to only carry seven bullets at a time in their standard issue 10-round magazines.

Yeesh! I own magazines capable of holding more than seven rounds. I don’t live in New York, and I NEVER considered doing any of those things that Gov COOKOO is talkin’ about.

"What’s a Browning Hi Power hold ? Can’t be much more than 7 or 8..."

I think you forgot the "sarcasm" icon.

(For the few here who are not admirers of John Moses Browning, the Browning P35 (model 1935) has come equipped with 13 round magazines from the factory since the beginning, hence the designation "Hi-Power". Mec-Gar makes a flush-fitting 15 round magazine with a thinner follower. This is pre-WW2 technology. Browning/FN has made 10 round magazines since the old AWB days and for Bolshevik US states, but they're probably ROFL at the thought of making 7 round magazines just for New York. Nobody is gonna bother to make 7 round mags for anything except a 1911.)

The hi-power, named for its mag capacity, holds 13. 13 nine isn’t really all that impressivve either.

Someone good at swapping mags can get 14 45’s out almost as fast as a hi-power guy can pull the trigger.

I forget - - who was the guy who was owning that little metrosexual weasel Andrew Cuomo's wife right under his nose? Oh, that's right!

Cuomo discovered the affair when he walked in on the lovers; that the other man is a wealthy, polo-playing, 50-year-old restaurateur and bon vivant named Bruce Colley.

“WHY has this PRICK not yet been recalled?!”

#1 There is no mechanism for recall in NY State.

#2 Even if there was recall in NY he wouldn’t be worried. Due to the assholes who make up the bulk of the downstate population Andy Cuomo has a favorability rating of over 60%.

We can bitch and moan and tell the Dems in NY we won’t vote for them due to their stance on guns. Guess what? They just laugh, in some cases literally, in our faces.

How many ounces of softdrink, how many bullets, etc. New York State is beyond silly. Limiting number of children will be next, unless those children can be bioengineered to follow a homosexual lifestyle.

He probably was paying more attention to his male “interns” than to his beard/wife.

A long lost pal from Des Moines owned a Hi Power and I became familiar with it 30 years ago. Charley Taylor owned the Cottontail Lounge in Urbandale, which was a good place for a sandwich and a beer or, after 5 pm, a steak dinner.
One evening at closing time, Charley spotted a young man approaching the front door wearing a ski mask, carrying what looked to be a small revolver. Charley picked up the Browning and slipped out the back, coming around to the front door where he confronted the would-be robber.
The punk was startled but still aimed the revolver at Charley, now just ten feet away. Charley responded by snapping off three rounds. All missed.
Dropping the revolver, the robber made a bolt for his waiting Impala and Charley let fly with ten more, puncturing the back window, the trunk and one rear tire.
Urbandale police happened by and caught the last barks of the Browning. They found the kid slumped down below the steering wheel, crying, but unhurt.
One of the Urbandale cops congratulated Charley on busting the punk and offered an afternoon at the Urbandale Police pistol range to tune up his Hi Power.
Although 13 rounds had been expended, not a single one had hit its target.

***and you have your 7-rounders.***

Place the magazine in the pistol, load a round in the chamber. You now have a magazine with six rounds in it.

Drop the magazine and replace the one round. Now you have one in the chamber, and seven in the magazine.

If you have to shoot, count your rounds, after seven is fired, you will still have one in the chamber to take care of anyone rushing you as you change magazines.

I’ve had several BHPs. The one with adjustable sights was extremely accurate.

Those with fixed sights would give good tight clusters, but not at point of aim.

Wish I still had the adjustable one.

Yep. And with a worked-in magshift, you have a full mag before the empty hits the ground.

Before Christmas I bought a couple of the Yugo M57 Tokarevs with two mags. I claened them up and took them to the range with some Privi Partisan 85gr rounds. Wow, that old pistol really shoots good!

I did paint the front sight with optic orange fingernail polish and squared out the back sight, but the fast round has low recoil and huge punch inside fifty yards. I like them so much that I bought four extra mags at 425 each, to up the carrying capacity.

The mags are nine rounds and I always have one up the spout with the hammer in a sort of half cocked position so to fire, the hammer must get cocked. The rounds will punch through soft body armor, but follow-up shots are quick and accurate.

Back to belt fed weapons only. They don’t have magazines.

Personally, I see, in the case of rifles, a huge resurgence of the pump action rifle and the tubular magazine. Some semis could also adopt the tube magazine, or fixed rotary mags, similar to the old Model 99 Savage(if the rotary was engineered correctly they could be recharged quite quickly with stripper clips). Some .22s still have tubular mags and they are quite legal in most states(probably all)with the new tech in bullet design that allows pointed bullets to be safely loaded in a tube mag, this would satisfy many hunters and some people for their self defense guns.

However, I would hope that the people vote these gun grabbing a**hats out of office in 2014 and solve the problem with repeals.

What is it with all the deceptive headlines? I know at newspapers, the copyeditors write the headlines. Did they just lay off a bunch of people or what?

Years ago, when California prepared the law to ban AW rifles, Neal KNOX spilled the beans showing that it originally was written to also ban tube fed rifles.

Yes, but the law didn’t go into effect that way. In CA tube fed weapons are still legal, but I think they are trying to pass an amendment to outlaw them. I don’t think it will pass, but you never know, what will all the commies in the senate and house, not to mention the Governor.
