Insurers: Health overhaul to hike some premium rates
Newsday ^ | 3/17/2013 | TOM MURPHY The Associated Press

Some Americans could see their insurance bills double next year as the health care overhaul law expands coverage to millions of people.

The nation's big health insurers say they expect premiums -- or the cost for insurance coverage -- to rise from 20 percent to 100 percent for millions of people due to changes that will occur when key provisions of the Affordable Care Act roll out in January 2014.

Mark Bertolini, chief executive of Aetna Inc., one of the nation's largest insurers, calls the price hikes "premium rate shock."

"We've done all the math, we've shared it with all the regulators, we've shared it with all the people in Washington that need to see it, and I think it's a big concern," Bertolini has said.

“He got no vacation pay, even though he had 74 hours available, “

That might be against the law, the state I'm from has law that says “no contract or agreement can require the forfeiture of an earned benefit” - like vacation.

Gee, if only I could remember exactly where—probably linked from MSNBC—I saw an article gushing about all the increases in health we’ve seen since Obamacare was implemented three years ago. And it went on to describe all of these health programs that supposedly exist because of Obamacare.

Never mind that some of the programs already existed. Never mind that new programs designed to encourage people to eat right and exercise won’t have any more effect than the old programs that do that. Never mind that many diseases aren’t related to lifestyle as much as to aging. Never mind that health benefits of changing one’s lifestyle don’t happen in three years, they only lead to decreased incidence of certain diseases (some cancers, some heart disease) in a population over a period of decades. Never mind... well, a lot of things.

The article linked from MSNBC basically listed any program that has received money since Obamacare was signed into law as a benefit of Obamacare. It was as shameless a propaganda piece as I have ever seen.

We had a premium increase, but our insurance leaves us with most of the bill. The copay and deductibles have risen by a lot.

I despise Obama and rats for this.

In Arizona, an employer doesn’t have to pay out vacation hours when an employee is terminated. While it may be legal, in my opinion it’s a disgusting thing to do to a longtime employee. He was in sales, unfortunately, and although he met or exceeded his quota for 18 consecutive quarters, the last 2 he did not, so they threw him out. Buncha a-holes.

I don’t quibble with your comment, I’d like to see the communication where the administration made that statement.

So many people to thank for this, and so little time;

Ted Kennedy, I pee on your grave, this was all your idea.

Barak 0bama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi; you lied and lied and lied. All lies about what you were doing, because the American people would never have supported you had you known the truth.

The “press;” you didn’t have the chance to expose their lies and tell us the truth about what was going to happen, you had the OBLIGATION to do so. You were all part of the lie.

Finally, Mr. Chief Justice John Roberts; you could have stopped this. You didn’t, and destroyed our country. May you go into the annals of history next to Roger Brooke Taney as the worst chief justice of all time.

I’m not familiar with Tri-care but think it’ll take over all insurances thus making AARP and United Health Care the one and only USA National Social Healthcare Agency - other than the one set aside for elites only starting with our socalled elected officials.

Believe me, most of the people who voted for obama want single payer. Even those who have no idea what that means. They just want what they’re told to want.

These are the people who voted for obama because they actually thought everyone currently without insurance could be insured for free. They have no idea they’ll be picking up the tab through higher premiums. And even then they’ll say it’s the republicans’ fault for not “negotiating” with the democrats.

The goal of many companies is to drop health care to the State. They know that it is more profitable to have the FedGov pay for their employees healthcare.

And it seems to be what people want. Even though it will be a massive cut in service and increase in real price.

It’s always fun times when I have to see a specialist and my copay is $75 while some government freeloader walks up and all they have to pay is $10. What’s even more thrilling is that I know I’m paying for that freeloader’s $10 doctor’s visit. I might as well pay the $10 for them. The least they could do is let me see the doctor first even if they get there ahead of me. I really hate it when they call them before me. That ain’t right.
