Senators voted Wednesday to keep the White House closed to public tours, turning back a GOP-led effort to free up money to open the building back up after the sequesters.

The vote was just one of a series of high-profile votes the Senate was taking Wednesday afternoon as it plowed toward passage of a bill to fund the government through the rest of this fiscal year

My bet is the White House never reopens to the public again.

This is such crap. There's MORE money for the tours than there EVER has been. Obama signed the sequester. Obama closed the tours out of spite as a political stunt. The democrats keeps the tours closed as a political stunt. The blame is ALL Obama's and the democrats. Republicans are idiots for even TRYING to get them started back up. All they should be doing is saying "OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS DON'T WANT YOU IN THE PEOPLE'S HOUSE."

Idiots!

good job, now the hyprocrisy of every stupid spending program the democrats pass can be compared to closing the people’s house to the people

this might also put a crimp in the obamas love of inviting ghetto trash ass grinding lip syncing entertainers like B-Yonce over for special tours and parties

The Republicans are for this, because the White House BELONGS TO US, the citizens of the United States. There have been several sources come foward and offer to fund the expense of the tours, so the Democrats are CHOOSING to make this a vivid political issue. It has nothing to do with “liberal FREEPERS who love to spend the tax payer money.”

"Donald Trump has no right to do something like that. "

BS! He has every right to do that. He has as much right to offer to pay for tours as the G has to DEMAND what they do from my paycheck, and then waste it like they do!

The White House BELONGS to the PEOPLE! The Federal Government funds the study of why lesbians are fat and why they drink too much. Just one example of many enormous wastes of taxpayer money. I toured the White House with the Safety Patrol trip to D.C. back in the 1960’s. Imagine the disappointment of the children who anticipated the visit and were turned away. Go after the other HUGE wasteful expenditures and give the People back their White House!

That house belongs to the people not the President or the Senate. There are many things that can be cut. If you don’t believe me re-listen to Obama’s state of the union where he spells out all the layers of government doing exactly the same thing. When kids and schools have an opportunity to learn about our government we should not stand in the way.

Do you have a link for the rule that says an American citizen cannot pay for WH tours?

that’s the new strategy—democrats vote to deliberately screw things up, then blame republicans, and the media helps them get away with it.

Never ever, even after Obama is gone. Even if we have a Republican President. I had the exact same thought.

Good. I don’t know why Republicans are for this. It is crazy to want to continue to spend money we don’t have.

FRiend, you and the most GOP is missing the point. The kenyan kept the WH dog walker and calligraphers on staff but closed the peoples house. If you are rich there is still a seat at his table. If you are regular Joe wanting to visit the WH you get nothing. People need to know that.

The kenyan should be hammered for these brazen political stunts. Don’t let him get away with it.

“What Sequester? Feds To Continue Funding Study On “Duck Penis Length”… “

(CNSnews.com) – The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a $384,949 grant to Yale University for a study on “Sexual Conflict, Social Behavior and the Evolution of Waterfowl Genitalia”, according to the recovery.gov website.

The grant description says,“The project examines how reproductive morphology covaries with season, age, and social environment in a diverse sample of duck species that differ in ecology, territoriality and breeding system.”

The grant was made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the stimulus package.

The project has been receiving money from the NSF since 2009 and is slated for funding through July of this year.”

The tour guides are all volunteers, the only expense to the gov’t is the security, which is there 24/7/365 anyway!

The tours for the schoolkids are usually planned several months to a year in advance. A six month delay means that this year’s class doesn’t get to go, as they will be in other classes and schools next year, despite raising the money for the trip.

Yet you say “tough noogies”. Life isn’t fair, so I suppose this is one way of teaching that, right?

Another citizen offered to pay the alleged expenses to keep the tours going, but the petulant one said “no”, and you appear to support that childish gesture.

There is NO legitimate reason to shut the doors of the White House to the people who pay for it. EVER.

Catie Couric would have cried while she interviewed those children.

Now, she wouldn't even slow down her limo if the were standing in front of it.
