I’ve read that if the earth were the size of an apple, our entire atmosphere would be about the same thickness as the skin. The oceans, while covering a large area are considerably thinner than the atmosphere.

Buckminster Fuller decribed the difference between the
deepest ocean trench and the top of Mt. Everest as
being only the thickness of the ink on an average
size globe of the world.

That always stuck with me, basically we are inhabiting
a ball bearing and these people think WE are affecting
it some how?
