Barack Obama's hopes of a smooth start to his first presidential trip to Israel suffered a hitch on Wednesday when his armoured limousine broke down after a driver reportedly filled it with diesel instead of petrol.
The hulking vehicle, nicknamed "the Beast" for its supposed robustness in the face of potential attacks, juddered to a halt on the motorway between Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport and Jerusalem after its engine apparently proved incapable of absorbing the alien fuel intake.
Israeli media outlets, including the flagship Channel 2 television station, reported that the car had been filled with diesel.
The sleek black limo had been flown in specially from the US for Mr Obama's visit.
Fortunately for the president, the breakdown happened two hours before his plane, Air Force One, touched down on Israeli soil, sparing him the embarrassment of a possible incident after his arrival in the Holy Land.

"They told me that this was Obama's car," he told The Daily Telegraph.
"They didn't say what had happened to it. They just said it had got stuck. Only the mechanic was there when I arrived. The driver had left in another car. The whole thing was very funny."

I do think that the idea of President Obama being in serious fear of his life while in Israel is plausible. He's a terrorist target and there are few places in the world where terrorists would have a better chance of successfully attacking an American president than Israel. That is even more true of an American president who is perceived as being anti-Israel, and who might attract the sort of conservative terrorists who killed a previous Israeli prime minister.
The simple fact of the matter is this problem with the presidential limousine, however it happened, was a massive security breach. Maybe it was an honest mistake. Things happen.
Or maybe it wasn't an honest mistake at all, but something much worse.
The key thing we need to remember is that whether we like him or not, he is the President of the United States, and we need to treat him as such. Vote against his policies, refuse to confirm his nominees, impeach him if we can make the case. That's all fine.
However, in America, we change our governments by elections, not by assassination, and President Obama deserves the best security we can possibly provide him for as long as he remains President. Something went seriously wrong during his visit to Israel and the reason needs to be identified and fixed.
not heard about this and now if this were Bush it would have headlines of Bush get off to rocky start or Bush trip goes bad.
Those headlines then would have been the start of a failed trip just like they tried to make Romneys trip but right now the media is saying how great this trip was and yet it does nothing but waste money and lets the white hosue, our house still be closed and let his wife’s family have free reign during the day.
he had ot have his own car because nothing else is good enough for him, much like his family closing our hosue so we cannot visit what we pay for as we;re not good enough to enter the peoples house anymore.

This trip which the media is making out as a great one does nothing, he admitted he is happy to get away from congress.
Now our house is closed because his wife and her family don;t want us in there and must think we have too many germs or something but we are good eough to pay for her food, toilet roll, cooks, dog walker etc
SS, has put more affirmative action guys and gals in there, officers being prmoted based on their turd poking but then again it;s no surprise as we have the girlie guy who has got every position through affirmative action and boy does it show with his lack of knowledge.
