McCain and Graham: Syria reports, if true, mean president's red line has been crossed

Washington (CNN) – Two leading Republican lawmakers said Tuesday that reports of chemical weapons use in Syria, if true, mean the president's threshold for involvement in the country's civil war has been met.

Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who have led calls in Congress for greater U.S. involvement in Syria, issued a joint statement saying the attacks, if verified, would demand a response from President Barack Obama.

“If today’s reports are substantiated, the President’s red line has been crossed, and we would urge him to take immediate action to impose the consequences he has promised," the senators wrote.

Me three. There is something more than meets the eye behind this never-ending extension of our military. I couldn’t say what, but this is the first time that the left has been so openly hungry for going to war, not ending war, etc. Why are they so eager to extend our military to or beyond its limits? I hope all those sodomite and female soldiers who were so anxious to have “equality” in the military, get their full fair share of that “equality” on the front lines. Except that it places an extra burden on the traditional front line soldiers.

These are the same scumbags who led the cheerleading squad to get involved in Libya before deciding to be outraged about Benghazi.

Yeah, they also hugged the muslim brotherhood in Cairo. These two asshats are hell bent on keeping the US ensnared in foreign entanglements.

McCain never met a war he didn’t like...as much as I hate Obama, thank God McCain didn’t win in 2008, lest we would be in the middle of WW III right now.

Syria would have to be dumber than dumb to do so under the eye of the world.

Agreed. So it kind of makes me wonder who actually fired off that rocket. Maybe it wasn't Assad, but someone who wants Assad gone.

Do you recall what started WW II in Europe? The Germans dressed up some prisoners in Polish army uniforms, then had them "attack" a German border installation. This gave the Germans the justification to invade Poland.

If US enters into hostilities, it is fighting directly with Russia, not smart.

McCain wanted to do that in back in 2008 over Georgia of all places.

McCain needs to shut up and just go away. What a jackhole. As if he can spout some BS and Muslims will magically stop killing.

It is a culture whose highest ideal is death through martyrdom. When suicide/homicide is your highest ideal, nothing the old blow-hole says will ever mean squat.

Its not the Democrats or the Republicans or the Left or the Right controlling these foreign matters. You are correct when you say that “There is something more than meets the eye behind this never-ending extension of our military.” The two Parties are just a front for the real behind-the-scenes efforts. This work has been established and ongoing for a long time.

Weirdly enough... it's hard to say about Code Pink... they've come out hard against drones in the U.S. As for Cindy Sheehan... she's a certifiable nutcase, so she's a hard read.

He lost all credibility with me back during the campaign in 2008 when, DURING A FRIGGIN' DEBATE, said we had "nothing to fear from an Obama presidency." I agree... he's wayyyyyy past his point of usefulness and needs to fade away.

Obama didn't mean a "red" line, he meant a "blue" line. That's a completely different line, you know.
