McCain and Graham: Syria reports, if true, mean president's red line has been crossed

Washington (CNN) – Two leading Republican lawmakers said Tuesday that reports of chemical weapons use in Syria, if true, mean the president's threshold for involvement in the country's civil war has been met.

Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham, who have led calls in Congress for greater U.S. involvement in Syria, issued a joint statement saying the attacks, if verified, would demand a response from President Barack Obama.

“If today’s reports are substantiated, the President’s red line has been crossed, and we would urge him to take immediate action to impose the consequences he has promised," the senators wrote.

I am as compassionate as the next guy, but I see no friends in either side of this battle and I don’t want to spill one ounce of US blood to save people who systemically hate us.

No matter what you do to or for a muslim, at the end of the day, you will still be an infidel (or Jew).

If an enemy is destroying themselves, the last thing we should do is interrupt. Hell, we should be agitating these crazy bastards and encouraging them to kill each other. If the people of Syria won’t fight for themselves, it’s not worth American blood and treasure.

I have never been a fan of entangling ourselves in the conflicts of others, in particular where we have no ally. That said, I find the comments on this thread interesting. Yet another strong divergence of the right from the Beltway GOP.

If Syria is allowed to use WMD’s, everyone else can use them as well.

And hollowpoints which are banned. If we can invade Syria for using gas on its own people, then Syria, and every one else for that matter, can invade the U.S. for using hollowpoints on its own people.

They are not going to be happy until we have troops on the ground there.

“Syria is nothing but Muslims killing Muslims.”

In a sane world we would be sending weapons and ammo to both sides to increase the body count.

Color me skeptical about the chemical weapons. Syria would have to be dumber than dumb to do so under the eye of the world. Obama is looking for an excuse to invade.

The GOP would be doing themselves a big favor by resisting a war for once.

A little Reaganesque restraint would go a long way.

I have no faith in the current chain of command; the only thing they can do well is eff up a wet dream.

New World Order attempting to topple YET ANOTHER regime.

Looks like farmers ripped off by NWO may be getting their money back from the J P Morgue.

Looks like voters on Cyprus standing up to NWO as they pressure their politicians to vote no on confiscating money from their bank accounts to pay up to the NWO international banking system.

Perhaps voters in the US can pressure their Congress to NOT do another NWO operation like Libya - perhaps voters can pressure their politicians to keep the US OUT of Syria.

Unless the Council on Foreign Relations, the CIA and all other government agencies would like to publish their whole internal secret history - of all the stuff they’ve caused over the years.

Let them divulge every off-the-books CIA business operation that has anything to do with drugs.

Let’s get every bank that operates within the US to come clean about any and all money laundering that it turns a blind eye to.

Let them divulge every NGO that receives any money at all from the government - and then reveal the true purpose of every such NGO and all communications they have with “revolutionaries”.

Let them divulge ALL historical US investment within the old Soviet Union, from 1917 up to today.

Let the CFR divulge ALL its members’ communications and contacts with the USSR during that period.

If Americans knew everything that NWO was doing... I doubt they would support any more NWO-generated wars.

I will be firmly among the anti-war crowd this time. Had enough of this sh*t of expending American blood and treasure for radical muslims.

I'm right there with you!

We would derive no discernible benefit whatsoever if we sent troops into that hellhole. And of course, years of nation-building would follow. Nooooooooooo thanks!
