Sen. Rand Paul: Illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain legal status

The dramatic shift in the Republican Party on immigration continued Tuesday, as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a conservative tea party icon and possible 2016 presidential contender, endorsed an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws that would allow the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants to obtain legalized status. “Immigration will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. That’s why I’m here today: to begin that conversation and become part of the solution,” he said in a breakfast speech Tuesday morning before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington.

Correction: An earlier version of this story inaccurately reported that Sen. Rand Paul had called in his speech for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. His speech did not include a reference to a path for citizenship, and the story has been corrected.

The GOPers are bending over for the Mexican government.

The one thing we can console ourselves with is that once amnesty is passed, all the people who went along with the GOP on it will suffer financially and perhaps even personally.

I am to the point where I literally hope to see them get what they asked for. In spades. Whare’s that Cartman pic about delicious tears of sadness when you need it?

The Kentucky senator outlined a path to legalization that would be more demanding than the principles advanced by a bipartisan group of senators who aim to introduce legislation in April. That group includes another likely 2016 contender and possible Paul rival, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Paul said he would want Congress to be involved in certifying that border security has improved sufficiently to open the legalization path, a requirement that many immigrant advocates are sure to oppose as unnecessarily injecting politics into the process.

It seems like a horrible mistake.

Rand Paul was in full politician mode on Hannity this afternoon.

No idea what kind of pressure border staters are under to adapt to the Mexican culture, allow them to take over parking areas, malls, schools, the language.

It is probably going to be irreversible.

Paul is a Kentucky Senator. He needs to go home and shut up about this, I don’t care if he IS from Texas, he does not know this issue.

There is a severe lack of representation for people who do not wish this invasion to become sanctioned.

A guy on the “FIVE” show on FNC just said what I’ve been saying all along. Now that there is a push for amnesty, the commie libs have dropped the number of illegals living here from 20 million to 12 million. Before they started their blitzkrieg, the “media” was trumpeting that Hispanics would outnumber Caucasians in this country by 2025. Now, the lying DemocRATS have gone into the Reverse Million Man Math mode. They have made the number of illegals here smaller so that Americans will say, “Oh, only 12 million! Then it’s no big deal”.

No GOP President has gotten more than 35% of the Mexican vote. Even after Reagan granted amnesty.

Borer security.

Hmm.

Does he mean the northern borders of our border states? All they need is this sanctioning of the invasion and that’ll be the official border, because it is already.

No. He needs to visit the situation, he is ignorant and should not be representing the people affected by this. He is a wacko bird on this, sorry.

There is a path!

The aliens who did not follow the path now make demands, and politicians cater to them instead of WE THE PEOPLE! There is something VERY WRONG with that.

There is a path. Follow it

Conditioning border security on amnesty is unacceptable. Enforce the law. Secure the border; deport illegal aliens on contact with police; stop enticing illegal aliens: no driver license, no college tuition, nothing whatsoever; prosecute employers.

And look at all the Freepers willing to drop trou and go along with whatever lie gets them a ‘win’. Dunno what they won...but neither do they. So it’s all good I guess!

“Immigration will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution

The solution is to ENFORCE EXISTING LAWS!!!!!!!!

If we are going to give amnesty to criminal aliens who have stolen identities, forged identification and social security documents, fraudulently obtained government documents and services, violated the IRS Code, driven cars and trucks without registration or drivers' licenses, AND illegally entered the United States of America, then what are we going to do with American Citizens who are also guilty of those crimes?

Are we going to give amnesty to American Citizens who are tax cheats, document forgers, Citizens who operate vehicles without licenses, Citizens who fraudulently obtain government documents and services?

Or is this AMNESTY only going to those who ALSO violated immigration laws?

Yup. As I said on the other thread, Here’s the facts:

We have a path to citizenship now. It is a good one. People use it every day from all over the world.

Illegal has a clear definition. When one engages in illegal acts, one is a criminal. Regardless of age or bleeding heart liberalism/feelgood forum posts.

The GOP is supposed to be the opposition to Dem liberalism, not act as the ‘lesser evil’ option so people can ‘feel good’ saying that ‘we got some of what we wanted’.

Incrimental approaches work. Ask the Sierra Club.

You either accept criminal ‘citizens’ and the GOP playing Kabuki theater games to get to the end result of illegals here under feel good bullXhit premises, or you do not.

You believe in a functioning border or you do not.

You want the rule of law or you do not.

Period.

Sen. Rand Paul: Illegal immigrants should be allowed to obtain *legal status*

News alert! News alert!

We already have a path to citizenship. I how the argument is framed. They take as a foregone conclusion that no one wants the current path to citizenship.

Being that his father is IN Texas, I would imagine he knows the situation quite well.

What some don’t understand is the political maneuvering going on behind the scenes. Sen. Paul is making the Left prove that southern border is secure. (which, as we all know, isn’t)

BTW Rubio is a problem, not a solution. The Establishment has taken him under their wing.

“Sen. Paul is making...”

An ass of himself and a mockery of the whole idea of ‘citizen’.

There. Fixed it.

There is a path. Follow it

Exactly what Rand is calling for.

“The AP story was wrong, which spurred a lot of erroneous reports,” Paul’s office said in a statement. “He does not mention ‘path to citizenship’ in his speech at all.”

One Paul adviser told The Post that the path Paul is endorsing does not make it any easier to attain citizenship than current law allows.

“They would get into the back of the line and get no special privileges to do so,” said the adviser, who was not authorized to comment publicly. “What his plan is extending to them is a quicker path to normalization, not citizenship, and being able to stay, work and pay taxes legally.”

Later Tuesday, Paul attempted to clarify his position on the citizenship question. “I didn’t use the word citizenship at all this morning,” he said. “Basically what I want to do is to expand the worker visa program, have border security and then as far as how people become citizens, there already is a process for how people become citizens. The main difference is I wouldn’t have people be forced to go home. You’d just get in line. But you get in the same line everyone is in.”

Geez !!

Paul Ryan says we don't have a debt crisis.

John Boehner trust Obama, Absolutely.

Rand Paul wants to legalize illegal immigrants with no word on border security.

It's almost like I expect Ted Cruz to say something stupid next.

Neither of the Pauls have shown any evidence of the situation.

Nor has anyone in congress.

Nor has the US reps of the Catholic church.
