COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A day after two high school football players were convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl, authorities arrested two Ohio girls suspected of making online threats against the accuser.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said the girls arrested Monday posted threatening comments on Twitter on Sunday, the day the players were convicted in Steubenville. One of the messages was later reposted on Facebook.
The rape case brought international attention to the small city of 18,000 and led to allegations of a cover-up to protect the Steubenville High School football team.
Steubenville police Capt. Joel Walker said the Jefferson County girls, ages 15 and 16, were being held in juvenile detention.
The older girl was charged with aggravated menacing for a tweet that threatened homicide and said "you ripped my family apart," according to the attorney general's office. The girl is a cousin of defendant Ma'Lik Richmond, attorney general spokesman Dan Tierney said Tuesday.
A Twitter message from the younger girl threatened the accuser with bodily harm, leading to a menacing charge, the office said.

There is a story written by a sports writer that details how a cousin of Ma’lik’s who was present at the party, a young man named Sean, did try to stop the assault and told his cousin that what he was doing was wrong. He isn’t getting enough press to my mind.

I have not followed this story closely and I have been wondering, was the other boy who was charged, White? We only see pictures of the one kid, but never the other kid, who no one seems to be concerned about.

I agree. I hope that her father is looking for a job elsewhere, and that they can relocate quickly. I just can’t imagine a girl her age trying to grow up amidst all of that. I can’t imagine it being easy for an adult, much less a girl.

I should have added that the only picture that I have seen was the one with the CNN story about how the case was ruining the boy’s life and killing all opportunity for a future. It was a picture of a Black boy with his Black lawyer.

If they bring a grand jury into session to look at the entire situation I suspect you’re going to see others indicted. This event could really envelope the entire community as it unfolds. jmo.

If i was the dad i’d make it damn sure to these two clowns that they both DO NOT want to get out of jail, for personal health reasons.
Sounds like a good part of it is. They dragged this poor unconscious girl to multiple parties and not one single person stopped it or reported it. She only found out after people starting trading videos and making fun.

I hope the football coaches who told the boys they would "take care" of this; are sent to jail also.
Maybe that explains the otherwise peculiar comment about tearing the she-thug’s family apart.
