U.S. military bases are traditionally outfitted with some of the comforts of home — including comfort food. The naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for example, has McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks, Subway, an Irish pub with notorious fried pickles, and multiple bars. Now, the food police are closing in at the Department of Defense, with similar language that preceded school menu crackdowns. Seriously though, fried pickles are divine. You really have to try them.
It will only mean that troops will start going off base for those kinds of things. It will not be a new thing. That is the way it was in the 60s. Only E3s and below ever ate on base.
Maybe Obama can ship some $100 lb steak to them, for their health of course.

I am a good “mom” cook. I cook homemade dinners all the time. From scratch. Maybe time to place that skill to good use outside of a base where Obama is dictacting diet...
Well, the only one of these bases I've been to is Ft. Bragg and "food an drink establishments" already account for about 90% of the businesses just outside the base. Add in pawn shops and stip malls and you've just about described Fayetteville N.C.
Fried pickles? Really?
Truth is, I am really boring. I like baked squash. :)
When I was at Fort Lewis, they had a regular mess hall and a chili dog/hamburger/french fry type mess hall.
I managed to have two mess hall cards so that I could eat at both, and separate rations for me and my wife, at the time I had an incredible metabolism and needed food constantly, and that helped a lot.
It seems that the period when I had to fill in as a temporary company clerk, was useful to my constant search for food.
Why do I suspect a very high correlation between those companies who supply for Healthy Base Initiative and those companies who make large contributions to Obama.
The Democrats have always been “pay to play.”
In 2012 there was a definative choice, granted, not much of one,but none the less, a choice. Again a majority of those hat voted said loud and clear, via their votes "Make us your slaves!"
While I, personally, did not vote for the bastard, I suffer under his yoke. Because when it rains, it rains upon the just and unjust alike.
What is happening now and what to continue to happen with greater frequency is the reaping of the seeds that were sown on both November 4, 2008 and November 6, 2012. the harvest will be equally bountiful and bitter.
In the Old Testiment of the Holy Bible, the Children of Israel cried,"We want a king, give us a king that we may be like other people" God did not want the Children of Israel to have a king at that point in time. He explained what said king would do to them. Never the less, the people persisted and God gave them a king and said king did all to them God said that he would.
Fast forward some thousands of years. In the good ole U.S.of A. the people cried, "Give us a god that we may worship!"And on November 4, 2008 they chose obama and re-afirmed their want and choice. Now, he is doing what they wanted him to do to them.
