It more of a news story when it’s football players - especially in a state like Ohio which takes its high school football very seriously.
I don’t think that’s the case at all. She was guilty of being stupid and had a punishment that was worse than the ‘crime’ of being stupid and drunk. In the days of my youth, I’ve been around some extremely drunk girls who were passed out or close to it. I, drunk as I was, made the decision not to stick things where they didn’t belong.
Ya know, I love that idea.
If you’re an adult and your kid or family member isn’t on the team, taking high school football “very seriously” is weird.

I’m really glad to hear this. Thanks for posting. Obviously, a huge majority of us believe that not enough people got convicted. That kid Patrick Pizzoferrato, who offered people $3/piece to urinate on her, he needs something. I don’t know what it is, but we, as a community, need to do something in the case of this Buttafuoco wannabe. Likewise for the irredeemably idiotic and base kid who joked about the victim being deader than Nicole Brown Simpson, Caylee Anthony, etc.. I’m glad to know it’s coming.
BS! The reason they’re referred to a football player is because they nearly got away with the rape simply because they are football players in a town that sanctifies football.

If any woman is in even questionable shape for giving consent and has not absolutely demonstrated or verbalized such consent, it's a "No."
(When there is any doubt, that should be the default assumption.)

I've heard it a little differently than you did. I've heard that she broke up with one guy, and he was completely embarrassed, so he and his buddy found a way to get revenge for the break-up. The friend (who is one of the young men found guilty) coaxed her into a date with him for the night of these parties. She was reluctant at first, but then fell for his charms. This was their first "date", so no, they were not boyfriend and girlfriend.
Only one of the convicted was black. The other was white.

The sentence is insufficient. These two sociopaths will reoffend.

It has to do with being Steubenville football players ...this whole thing was nearly hushed up and swept under the rug, especially because they were Steubenville football players. Steubenville = football, and woe to anyone who interfers with the success of football in Steubenville. There may still be more to uncover here, and the Ohio Attorney General is now involved...look for a Grand Jury to look further under the rug.
