PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. — The first female Marine Corps general in charge of its tough-as-nails basic training site on Parris Island says she’s confident women in the Corps will be able to handle combat.

Brig. Gen. Loretta Reynolds says the Pentagon’s lifting of the combat exclusion against women earlier this year means commanders will be able to “just use the talent that they have. Just use it where they need it. That’s awesome.”

Reynolds was the first woman to command a Marine base in a combat zone when she was put in charge of Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan in 2010. As head of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force’s headquarters group, she oversaw the base in Helmand province that grew to house 20,000 Marines.

She also commanded a communications battalion in Iraq from 2004 to 2005 in battle-scarred Fallujah.

Once the first womans head is blown off in combat then contant reporting on the media 24/7 for 3 weeks straight expect a significant drop in female recruitment in the military.

Maybe that was the plan all along...

All this will come to a screeching halt the first time the Taliban or some other throw-backs capture one our female soldiers. The American public will not be able to stomach it and our forward deployed male troops will be demoralized.

This is nothing but a shame, a disgrace and an insult to all who have suffered and died in battle and earned their place, their rank and their honor.

What a frigging joke but it isn’t funny at all.

From the halls of Montezuma, oh wait, I broke a nail, now on to Tripoli.

Surely the end is near. We are a laughing stock.

was looking ans sked a recruiter and I kid you not.

One pull up for a woman to enter the marines, two pull ups for a man.
To graduate then women do two pulls up and men do 3 pulls up.
The run is in sneakers and I forget the time but it;s something liek a mile in 10 and a half mins which is a joke

Just look at the AD’s, the marines storm the beach and then give out aid
for the Navy they show a woman in a submarine and state near the end that they are equal opportunity and rights.

What the hell storming a beach to give out aid.

then contrast the roayl marines in the UK who ban women in any kid of job, and here is their AD

they actually tell the pansies and fairies not to join and say they like pain, and now we have this crap of cross dressing , turd pokers and women who get positions who are based on politics.

so sickening

Well big friggin’ whoop de doo... she communicates. She must do it with such authority and panash.

Such outstanding leadership qualities.

I’ve got ties older than her that have probably seen rougher duty.

But, but, but... she was near battle scarred Fallujah. Doesn’t that count? She was gallantly leading a communications battalion somewhere near there.

“Of course women can “handle combat”. I can “handle” playing point guard in the NBA, I would be terrible at it, my team would lose every game, but I could “handle” it. What does “handle combat” even mean? The left couldn’t do any of this garbage without a compliant media. Barf.”

THANK YOU. the issue is women in combat UNITS, not women in combat. whenever this comes up that is the first thing i say. “women in combat” is another no though spin phrase like “assault weapons”.

Women will eventually go to fight on the frontlines in a war and it will be a massacre. Until then there will be no common sense. The us military is in great danger of becoming the primary tool of the fascists, what with the “retirements” of so many good leaders lately.

Anyone who tells me this gets the same response: OK, then form an all-woman brigade. Let’s create a unit to test the theory by making sure that there are no men to carry the burdens for the women.

That's what Rush Limbaugh proposed:

Flashback to the All-American First Cavalry Amazon Battalion

“I’m not ashamed to tell you I can’t do a pull-up yet, but I’m working on it!” the 48-year-old Reynolds said with a laugh.”

Gen. Reynolds, with all due respect (and that ain’t much) this graduate of Parris Island, Vietnam, former Corporal, former mustanger Captain just went to the pullup bar and managed a pull-up.

I’m 60 lbs overweight, over 65 years old and 100% service-connected disabled.

Does that say anything about YOUR fitness to lead troops in combat?

you are exactly correct. look at what a MAN that had his balls cut off and put on estrogen due to a "normal female" in MMA. That is a top female combat trained athlete against a guy with no balls..... Knock out in under 40 seconds.

My daughter made it into the SFPD academy. The physical standards to do so were VERY high. The academy is 8 months and VERY tough. She is VERY smart and DAMN tough. She left during the last 3 weeks because of an injury (and was asked multiple times to come back again).

What does she say about combat? No. Bad idea. Women aren’t physically designed for it.

Yeah, she can take down a man outweighing her by 100 pounds. But she can’t carry him any distance while wearing a full complement of combat gear.

PS: I love the irony of San Francisco having just about the toughest police training in the country. Schizo town.
