First female general to lead Parris Island Marine base says women can handle combat

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. — The first female Marine Corps general in charge of its tough-as-nails basic training site on Parris Island says she’s confident women in the Corps will be able to handle combat.

Brig. Gen. Loretta Reynolds says the Pentagon’s lifting of the combat exclusion against women earlier this year means commanders will be able to “just use the talent that they have. Just use it where they need it. That’s awesome.”

Reynolds was the first woman to command a Marine base in a combat zone when she was put in charge of Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan in 2010. As head of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force’s headquarters group, she oversaw the base in Helmand province that grew to house 20,000 Marines.

She also commanded a communications battalion in Iraq from 2004 to 2005 in battle-scarred Fallujah.

Anyone who tells me this gets the same response: OK, then form an all-woman brigade. Let’s create a unit to test the theory by making sure that there are no men to carry the burdens for the women.

notice how she has not been on the ground in combat, big dfference being in command in a safe zone than marching for days carrying over a 100 pound, and thenhaving to fight and what happens when she is on her period, maybe gets pregnant, can she carry 100 pound and then carry a 200 pound guy who has bene shot, course not

This woman is there because she is a lefty idiot and I have ahd officers in charge of me where I had no respect for as they had no clue what they were doing .

That;s why I have respect for the NCO’s who has been there for years when I first joined not the new officer with a chip on his shoulder .

Lives are at risk and now we have cross dressers, homosexuals and women., nah nothing could go wrong/

The other week I talked to a tanky soldeir who said he was in the PX just after don;t ask was overtunred in Afghanistan and said his officer came in wearing a dress.
Right away the guys all lost respect and moral went out the door.
The officer was a flamer turd poker who now is on their facres and making perverted comments and they can;t do anything and thta is why he and others are leaving

They would just forbid packs above a certain weight. Or force everyone into vehicles no matter how it would affect the mission.

"Wait until they get fragged for not carrying their weight."

You KNOW there will be a lot less fragging, than Fluking, with women in "combat" areas.

Probably, but that only adds complications.

“I’m not ashamed to tell you I can’t do a pull-up yet, but I’m working on it!” the 48-year-old Reynolds said with a laugh.

Appointed because her political ideals aligned with Obastard’s. She will try to twist the military into a perverted social experiment club.

Just the title to this article indicates the current level of stupidity in our military. Fish rots from the head down. Sorry, had to say it.

Sure women can handle combat. Just like they could handle being a lineman in the NFL. I can only hope that other nations militaries catch the PC disease. If they don’t we are dead.

"First female general to lead Parris Island Marine base says women can handle combat"

That's an interesting statement in light of the fact that Congress just renewed the VAWA. So let me make sure I understand our societal leaders. A woman can handle the violence and horror of the battlefield. But that same woman needs special protection at home if a man yells at her. Hey, makes sense to someone I guess.

I have long maintained that it was wrong to allow females to matriculate at our military academies — something that, IIRC — began in the 1970s during VietNam.

Remember, from the beginning, female military academy cadets were NEVER held to the same physical standards as their male counterparts.

It does not take a Ph.D. in physics to see that the one leads to the other (admitting women to our military academies to demands to place women in combat).

The argument has usually been that combat combat restrictions create unfair limitations on female officers’ career advancement.

This is not the argument of enlisted Women Marines or enlisted female soldiers, or enlisted female sailors or airmen.

Nor is it an argument based on either national security needs or a desire to improve our military’s combat effectiveness. (Is this not a red flag to all with a room-temp IQ?)

Rather, this (career-limitation whining) is the argument of spoiled, privileged women permitted to rob able-bodied males of coveted Academy slots, who now want to do the same in combat units.

I have read arguments in this forum of those defending placing women in the Academies. Okay. Now defend this nonsense.

Trust me, the Russians and Chinese are laughing at us for our folly.

I fear we may well be headed for disastrous military defeat. Our enemies care nothing about our social experimentation. They care only about defeating us in battle — something our current leaders appear to be facilitating.

This idiocy is a cancer on our military, and it is now metastasizing.

How about Omaha Beach! Films of young women being blown apart would have caused an outrage in the US.

Ever stop to think that maybe that’s the point.

What better way to ensure we never intervene anywhere, ever again?

Just damn.

My only grandson will enter the Marines in June.

I have obliquely objected to his choice, but I do want it to be his decision alone.

Ten years ago I would have been quite happy for him, now I can only hope for the best with great trepidation.

Are you kidding? If there were women infantry present, they would have mostly refused to exit the landing craft.

“My only grandson will enter the Marines in June.”

I wish him well. I went through Paris Island in 1951. It will not be easy but it will make him realize what tired and scared neans, sometimes both at the same time. Its an experience he won’t soon forget.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to go through Marine boot camp, I was more glad when it was over than when it was happening.

Yup, that’s how you know it is all crappola. Looking at the records of all female combat units vs. an all male combat units shouldn’t be too hard to do, in fact it is the obvious thing to do. Yet somehow the folks pushing for this never bring it up. For some reason.

Indeed, my first choice for ground combat troops is to select from the one pool of bodies that we know has 40% less upper body strength, weaker bone structure, less stamina, and less of that magic aggression hormone testosterone. Stunningly brilliant idea.
