Caddell Unloads on 'Racketeering' GOP Consultants
Breitbart ^ | March 14, 2013 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 03/15/2013 5:59:09 AM PDT by DManA

Pat Caddell, the Fox News Contributor and Democrat pollster who engineered Jimmy Carter’s 1976 Presidential victory, blew the lid off CPAC on Wednesday with a blistering attack on "racketeering" Republican consultants who play wealthy donors like "marks."

"I blame the donors who allow themselves to be played for marks. I blame the people in the grassroots for allowing themselves to be played for suckers....It's time to stop being marks. It's time to stop being suckers. It’s time for you people to get real," he told the audience that included two top Republican consultants. . . . Caddell left no doubt he is not an admirer of Mitt Romney's campaign management skills. He called Romney "the worst executive I've seen" when it comes to leading a political campaign. Romney's failure to attack Obama's Benghazi debacle during the foreign policy debate was "cravenness" that came about because his consultants told him "we don’t want to look warlike." . . . The 2010 takeover of Congress by the Republicans, Caddell said, "was not engineered by the Washington Republican establishment. They [the establishment] then took that victory and threw it away."

Furthermore, Caddell lays out what I’ve been saying for quite some time.

You aren't alone. Rush Limbaugh, while faithful to the GOP will say what the GOP really thinks.

The Republican Party is trying to do something in this primary that is unprecedented. They're trying to split the conservative vote and win the primary with a moderate, with Romney. It's the other way around. You consolidate your base and then you move to the center in the general. The Republican establishment has decided they don't want any part of conservatism. And this is really not new. People are surprised to hear this, but the Republican Party formative event with conservatism is Goldwater's landslide defeat. That's what they think of when they think conservative. They don't think Reagan. They think Goldwater.

They believe what the inside-the-Beltway philosophy is about conservatives. They're racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, Southern hayseed hicks. They're pro-lifers. They're embarrassing to have to go to the convention with them. And they're just embarrassed to have those kind of people in the party. They're dumb. They're not erudite. They're not educated in Ivy League schools. We'll take their votes on election day, but we really don't want to hang around with them. We don't want anybody in Washington thinking that we're really that close to them and aligned with them. So in the process -- you know, it's a very sophisticated electorate. The Republican primary voter can sense that the Republican Party really doesn't like them, really doesn't want them, thinks that they are the route to defeat. That's the problem in a nutshell. The Republican establishment thinks that a conservative nominee is the route to defeat because they think Goldwater landslides are going to happen because they believe what the popular misconception the left has created of conservatives -- they think everybody thinks that.

Something's really in the air

After Republicans lost the White House as well as seats in the House and Senate in the 2012 elections, Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, wrote that the bad candidate selection and badly run campaigns reminded him of Eric Hoffer's remark that "Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business and eventually degenerates into a racket." Kristol added "It may be that major parts of American conservatism have become such a racket that a kind of 're-founding' of the movement as a cause is necessary."

I maybe exaggerated when I said I know nothing about him. I am aware of his resume. But what makes him tick? Why was he up there on the panel last night.

Just another cynic with an angle, or has Diogenes finally found an honest man?

You left out the biggie... when Willard’s mama, Lenore, ran for the Senate in 1970 against Dem incumbent Philip Hart. She holds the record for the WORST defeat by a Republican nominee for the Senate in the history of Michigan (less than 33% of the vote — even Jack Hoogendyk did better against Lenin in 2008).

That family is a cancer to the GOP.

Indeed it is. I was going to ask permission to use it as such, but since you seem to have already claimed it I won’t. :)

As far as I'm concerned, any “Republican” strategist, advisor, consultant, former-campaign whatever on scene today is a f@cking loser who is trying to parlay their miserable records and platform/candidate tripe to the next group of donor suckers who are desperately hoping to oust Obama’s ilk and what is likely to follow.

As far as I'm concerned, they should be treated like pariahs, shundt as the Quakers or Pennsylvania Dutch say. Ostracized and pilloried. They should be rounded up and incarcerated in political limbo jail. Screw them and their “strategery”.

There are a lot of excellent quotes on this thread.
‘Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business and eventually degenerates into a racket’

Thus the history of the ‘Liberal’ movement. It is well into the ‘racket’ stage now.
I am going to have to start reading Eric Hoffer again.
Caddell is resembling an old Testament prophet.
Er, pity that the old Testament prophets were ignored.

It has plain to see for some time that Pat Cadell is first an American and some distant second is a democrat, but a democrat from the old school before LBJ showed the lie/cheat/steal way to win in politics.

We all would do well to listen to what he is saying.

“”The Republican Party,” Caddell continued, “is in the grips of what I call the CLEC—the consultant, lobbyist, and establishment complex.” Caddell described CLEC as a self serving interconnected network of individuals and organizations interested in preserving their own power far more than they’re interested in winning elections.

Just follow the money,” Caddell told a rapt audience....

Financial corruption is a key component of the current process, according to Caddell. “There’s money passing under the table on both parties. Don’t kid yourself...If you can’t see racketeering in front of you, God save you.”

__________

Conservatives would be wise to listen to Caddell, and it’s nice that I’m not the only one screaming about this collusion/corruption/money laundering...YES, I said it...MONEY LAUNDERING. We’ve been talking about it for days here on FR. He’s pointing fingers at the same players I’ve been warning you about....
Al Cardenas, head of ACU
Grover Norquist and his pal in crime, Karl Rove & Islamic extremist CPAC player Suhail Kahn.
Their accomplices hijacking the tea party label..teaparty.net and TPNN (teapartynewsnetwork)
The money changing hands between Rove and Norquist alone should alarm you. One openly trying to destroy the tea party movement and the other one claiming it as his.
And ALL of them for the gang of 8 amnesty. Do you think all these people don’t know these aliens will vote democrat??? WAKE UP.
