Some children living in the U.S. Southeast have a rare meat allergy linked to tick bites, according to a new study.
Bites from ticks, usually lone star ticks, cause the body to become allergic to a protein called alpha-gal which also happens to be found in some mammals, including cows, pigs and sheep, the researchers said. When people who have been bitten develop this allergy, and then eat meat from these animals, they can experience hives, swelling, or more rarely, a life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.

Why are the children carrying ticks? LOL
Teach your kids not to eat ticks!
My son at a young age had several types of nervous ticks that he grew out of luckily. I thought this article might have had some info. I guess not!
Ain’t no ticks on me, oh there Ain’t no ticks on me.

People allergic to rare meat shouldn't eat it :)

Well, there goes the dog meat off the menu.
So, the kid ate the damn tick. The tick didn't try to eat the kid.
So, if the kid ate the tick, now the tick is IN the kid, THEN the kid gets an allergy to red meat.
If the tick ate the kid, the kid is just fine and dandy, no meat allergy.
When I was about 3 years old, I ate caterpillars I picked off the cherry tree. Green slime everywhere. Even my momma puked her lungs out.
But hey, they were good!
