I still like Pete Demenici. I was involved in NM GOP Politics during some of his term. He did good work.

I guess because it shows the games powerful men play with young women never change; somehow the country goes on . The one that really floored me was Henry Hyde. After that, the Vitters, Ensigns, etc. that keep rolling through just seem like part of the Washington wallpaper.

The Domenici’s are a great family. Pete is a good man who, like us all, has his failings and times where he does not live up to his best expectations. Not that it makes for an excuse, but I do know that at the time Pete and Nancy were going through some very hard times due to the health problems of one of their children.
I’ll pray for the family, and I will continue to admire them.
He was a horrible example of a human being. My happiest day was his departure. What a liar.

I knew Pete Domenici and he was not as you describe.
I was at one time GOP County Chairman in a county in NM. Lived there for 14 years. I knew many of the public officials.
I make no excuses for his actions that are revealed, but I do know things he did accomplish that were very good for the nation.
I like to see who we are talking about.
when one sees irresponsible conduct from Republicans, especially those who bend over for OBAMA, sell out morality,always look like their just coming home from a vacation, have superlib wives that the media doesnt report on, one can see how democrats and their “outing” experts exercise power over the republicans...the reps had the chance to defund obama/central planned healthcare but punked out...one wonders why ?

I’m sure Paul Laxalt would have strangled him with his bare hands if he were alive today. What about the father of Monica Lewinsky? He blamed Ken Starr. I’m sure the offspring fella is well adjusted. That doesn’t make it ok.
I read through some of them and it is beyond stupid. “he’s a hypocrite.” Well, yeah, he is. So are they - they’ve never failed to live up to their own standards? And one of the reasons some of them say are because he voted for Clinton to be removed from office in the impeachment trial. Clinton was not on trial for infidelity, first of all, and second of all, even if Domenici had done the same things Clinton did that has no bearing on Clinton’s innocence or guilt. Their comments are absurd...but that is what being a liberal pretty much requires - checking reality at the door.
Perhaps strangest is this line from the article:

“Sacred” does not seem to be the right word.

Well anyway...while so many are bashing the Senator there is a real human being involved in this - and based on this bio looks like he turned out okay and is a stand up guy - decorated Navy Veteran.

Don’t you think that schizophrenia should be covered as an illness like any other? I witnessed the daughter’s abrupt change - it was tragic. It was an illness no different than cancer or heart failure.
