I am a hampster, never had one as a pet but 2 of my boys raised guinea pigs and my daughters hampster got out of his cage, died in the ductwork and a week later the house was full of flies and the smell wiffled up each register until it was totally decomposed...used lots of air freshner down the registers every day.....yuk
