Donald Trump thinks actress Ashley Judd would make a "great" Senate candidate, the real estate mogul tweeted on Tuesday.

“All reports indicate Ashley Judd will be running for Sen. McConnell's seat,” Trump wrote. “She's going to be a great candidate. …Re: Ashley Judd: Keep @KarlRove away. He already made her a viable candidate.”

IMO, Ashley won’t run. I don’t believe TPTB in the Democrat party want her to enter the race.

The KY state party, yes. With the exception of Yarmuth, who is an unrepentant booster (since she'll drive up Dem/Lib/Progressive turnout in his district in what looks like a bad year for him) they've been at best tepid in support for her, knowing that their other candidates (Yarmuth excepted) will have to run like scalded dogs from her.

She's also being pushed by the NE Lib establishment, who think they can engineer another Missouri/Indiana and take out McConnell. PLUS a whole bunch of Dem Consultants who are seeing the Hollywood $$$ she can rake in and drooling over the potential cash cow.

In the meantime, the McConnell campaign is already taking good shots at her over her opposition to coal, bearing children, guns and really being a resident of Tennessee. As of this morning they're ALSO taking good shots at that Progressive group's racist tweets about McConnell's Asian-American wife.

If she jumps in, it's going to be a very fun campaign.

Is Trump a real-estate mogul or just a real mongrel?

I believe the national party is also starting to hedge their bets.

Uh-Oh - Report: DSCC pulling back from Ashley Judd

Don't you realize how hard it is to look like this and stay relevant and credible?!

Yup. Obamas popularity numbers may be in free fall, which changes the dynamics of the race. Having Ashley Judd not only as the KY challenger to McConnell but also drawing lots of national attention as a VERY progressive Dem standard bearer could have cascading impacts in races all over the country.

The poll by Bershir’s pollster is probably skewed (the Governors people haven’t seemed all that thrilled about a Judd run) but it provides the DSCC and national Dems political cover without having to acknowlege that it may be a bad cycle for Progressives.

Believe me, his “endorsement” did her a lot more harm than good.
