WARREN, Ohio (AP) — The 19-year-old woman behind the wheel of an allegedly stolen SUV when it smacked a guardrail and flipped into a pond, killing six friends, didn't have a valid driver's license, according to a report on the crash released Tuesday.
Two teens who survived the crash told police the woman was speeding and driving recklessly before Sunday's accident.

The State Highway Patrol report said one of the teens told investigators the driver, Alexis Cayson, sped up as she rounded what's known as "Dead Man's Curve." The other teen told a state trooper it felt like the SUV was going 80 mph. Cayson was among those killed along with five boys. Brian Henry, 18, said he told the woman to slow down before the five-passenger Honda Passport, crammed with eight teenagers, sped down a 35-mph road and into the water early Sunday.

from comments:

—Years back 4 drunk Houston teenagers joy riding a stolen car traveling over 100 mph hit a stopped train at 3 AM. All four died instantly. The parents blamed the accident on an undersized railroad crossing sign. A spokesman for the railroad replied “How could they see a sign if they could not see a train”?

—Stolen vehicle. No license. Speeding. Gonna’ make a Utube video. Kids out having fun.. Drugs???? You spectulate. This is the problem with our children today. NO PARTENTAL CONTROL... Unfortunately this is one of the problems of raising your children with the attitude that “we’re letting them grow and be their own selves. I am very sorry for what happened to these children and to all of their families, but there should be a message here to the rest of the people letting their children be their own selves. Stop with the “time out” crapola and start parenting...

—I’ll admit I did stupid things. But, I never drove 80 in a 35 zone around something called “Dead Man’s Curve” in a stolen SUV with a person that didn’t even have a driver’s license behind the wheel. Sometimes the odds catch up with you.

I wondered why the MSM is all over this story, now I know. Stolen vehicle...the occupants knew in my opinion. Yet not what I would do speed up for ‘;dead mans curve”

But driver (Alexis Cayson) may have been friends with the daughter of the SUV owner...

http://www.vindy.com/news/2013/mar/12/survivor-recounts-tragedysflb/#comments

from comments:
—How coincidental the guy reports his car stolen a day and a half later. In a previous article, Marquis’ wife in Youngstown, stated he had spent the night at his sisters and this Alexis Cayson was her roommate. It would tend to think it all began there.

—So Marquis Stephenson who was married and had a wife liked hanging out and sleeping at his sisters place. Alexis Cayson who lived with the sister of Marquis Stephenson was driving his SUV. There may have been a relationship between Marquis Stephenson and Alexis Cayson.

—Now we learn that Alexis Cayson, the driver, did not have a valid driver’s license, and may never have had one. She wasn’t wearing a seat belt; none of the occupants were. On her facebook page she describes herself as “silly, like to have fun” with a photo captioned “At Me Now, I’m getting Hater”; she was in a relationship with a Patricio Hijo, who lives in Amsterdam, Holland and who is FB friends with Precious Stephenson, the sister of Marquis Stephenson, the owner of the car he reported stolen a full day after the crash. Was Alexis sexually assaulted that fateful night? Why the excessive speed? Why only teen boys in the car with her? When will this community finally learn the whole truth about this awful tragedy?

also from same page:

—The car wasn’t stolen. The owner doesn’t want to face criminal/civil action for allowing a non licensed driver to take his car. He also wants to be able to get an insurance check. How about (city of )Warren prosecute the owner of the car for filing a false police report and insurance fraud? I hope his insurance agency rejects his claim.

Anthromorphic fallacy. Of course you didn't. All the people who did those things are no longer around to post. Well, at least 6 out of 8.

When I was in high school my parents would only let me take one other person at a time in my car and only then with prior permission. I was also not allowed to ride in another kid’s car without prior permission. When I was a senior, a car load of girls from our school was racing a car load of boys. An 18 wheeler pulled out in front of the girl’s car. Our school principal made all of us look at picture of the wreck. Seeing body parts of our classmates among the truck tires is something one never forgets.

My kids probably hated me on occasion but if they said they were going to a friend’s house to spend the night, I always talked with the parents of the friend, sometimes more than once during the night. If something didn’t seem quite right, their father or I would even drive by to make sure their car was there and that everything appeared in order.

Is there some basis on which you are suggesting that she may have been sexually assaulted?

According to one commenter “They were just kids out having fun, not kids into gangs, no drugs involved,” Williamson said. “They’re just kids doing what we all did at one time.”

So the parents of these kids stole cars and drove them around like idiots too?

Also “Everyone described Andrique, Brandon and Ramone as typical teens. They weren’t into crime or drugs. They were lovers of music, video games and sports.” I guess they WERE into crime since they all got in a stolen car.

Sometimes these parents (if you can call them that) are just as ignorant as the children. They raise thugs who steal and do criminal things but according to their parents “they are good chillin who do no wrong”.

Well mom and (if they had one) pop, you lost your kids because you let them be raised by Snoop Dog and gangbanging ideas.

When will the black members of society understand that you have to keep your kids on a tight leash until they are old enough and smart enough to avoid people who steal cars and do drugs. That includes banning harmful movies and music. It might not make you popular with your kids, but you’re not supposed to be their buddy, you’re supposed to help guide them through life so they have a long and successful one.

Not me; I was quoting one of the comments in the article. Mostly I was pointing out car owner may have known the driver and perhaps the car wasn’t “stolen” after all

Well, the last thing I remember, Doc, I started to swerve
And then I saw the Jag slide into the curve
I know I’ll never forget that horrible sight
I guess I found out for myself that everyone was right
Won’t come back from Dead Man’s Curve

I could even buy into some of that. Unlicenced Driver? Been there. 8 kids in a car? I dunno, but probably done that.

Car Stolen/Borrowed? Hmmmmmm.....starting to break down here.

And, at 7am on a Sunday? That's where it falls apart, IMHO. 10am says "chuch". 1am says "Out too late doing stupid things".

7am says "Allnighter". Which nothing good can come out of, especially at age 14 or 15....

Of course, it's somebody else's fault.

They were just getting their lives turned around.
They just went to church with their grandma.
They were working on their G.E.D...
