'Fortune' Editor Boosts Nanny Bloomberg: 'Sometimes You Have To Take People By The Hand'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

You'd think someone who works for "Fortune" magazine would have more have more respect for free people and free markets. But on Morning Joe, today, there was "Fortune" editor Leigh Gallagher boosting Michael Bloomberg's nanny state. Gallagher approvingly quoted Mayor Mike to the effect "sometimes you have to do not what people want you to do. You have to take people by the hand and lead them."

Gallagher also, incredibly, confused the ability of entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs to offer products that people, exercising their free will, find appealing with the ability of politicians to use the force of law to bend people to their whims.

“Fortune” editor seemingly clueless about free markets. Loves Bloomberg’s nanny state. Ping to Today show list.

Communists, fascists, and statists have taken over ALL periodicals.

If you had a journal named "RIGHT WING TEA PARTY RACIST WHITE PEOPLE MAGAZINE", it would lament the death of Hugo Chavez in this upcoming edition.

It's gotten THAT bad.

'Sometimes You Have To Take People By The Hand'

Sometimes you have to grab government by the throat.

They all have one thing in common - they all went to college in the last 20 years.

If Bloomie continues to “lead” by force, compelling people to obey his commands on beverage sizes, then restaurateurs should respond with cleverness and follow only the letter of this silly law. The petty tyrant wants to ban the sale of larger drinks? Fine. Larger drinks are free with a sandwich purchase (they’re selling the sandwich, not the drink), and jack up the price of the sandwich. The net result will be selling more sugary drinks. Alternatively, sell the kiddie cup sizes, with a free refill during that visit or on the day of purchase. Or sell Double-Gulps - two sixteen-ounce cups of caffeine/sugar/ice for a single price. Again, more real Coke, but freedom wins.

Bloomie can have my Big Gulp when he pries it from my cold dead hands.

Yes, all the Lefty academics heard Mario Cuomo’s rant about the sheep leading the shepherds in ‘94 and took it to heart.

"..."sometimes you have to do not what people want you to do. You have to take people by the hand and lead them."

SHE sounds pretty led to me.

To spew HER words, someone had to lead HER to that kind of thinking.

SHE has been taken by HER hand and led to crazy talk/thinking.

SHE can probably be led to just about anything HER overlords give HER.

Bloomberg is a mad man. Yet he’s about to attract other crazoids of all varieties. Does this chick want to sleep with him in hopes some of his big bucks will slough off or what ~ never seen anything more obvious than her totally self-centered ploy.

Because the ruling class are not “people“? Bloomberg should resign if he thinks people are so incompetent since their voting decision put him into his position. Makes one almost wonder if he has a point.

....You have to take people by the hand and lead them."

That is right. Here is the way it works Bloomberg and other libs.

Twenty oz sugary drinks are bad for you therefore I am not going to drink them anymore. I hope you all will follow my example of leadership and do the same. Have a nice day. Your great leader, Mayor Bloomberg.

OK so what next thern?

Limiting donut sales to the half dozen, or one at a time max sale is 2?

Why can you get 2 pizza for the price of one but can’t get a 2 liter bottle of soda with that order?
Should pizza sales be limited to the slice and require that you buy a side salad?

How about chips? You can buy baked only and 6 oz packages only?

alcohol makes you fat and stupid- new NYC limit of 2 drinks pp sold at bars? why can you buy a gallon of wine but not 16 oz of pepsi?

Why do people on food stamps get to use them for sugary processed foods??????

where does regulating what “we the people” buy, or eat end...and why end it anywhere??

why not just have govt run cafeterias to serve collective health meals?

Ewwww I don’t want to touch King Bloomer’s hands.

Since he’s so worried about other people’s health, he needs to close down all the disease ridden gay bathhouses in his little kingdom.
