Female senator tweets about 'very uncomfortable' screening by TSA (McCaskill)
The Hill ^

Posted on 03/11/2013 1:33:24 PM PDT by SMGFan

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) complained Monday she was subject to a very uncomfortable screening by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). McCaskill tweeted about the experience before boarding a flight on Monday.

The senator, who has complained about the TSA's security techniques in the past, tweeted that she was selected for a pat down and that the experience was not a pleasant one. "‪Today in my airport screening, test on my hands was positive," McCaskill wrote to her 89,100 followers. "Got private, more aggressive pat down. OMG. #veryuncomfortable‬."

I am sure she’ll take it up with Janet Napolitano to put in some measure that only non-liberals get these pat-downs in the future.

The obvious answer is private jets for all Senators and Congress members.

Ring up Bernanke and Lew to create the Baraqqi mini-bucks to pay for it.

She wasn’t concealing a handgun in a very private area, was she? After the recent story about the woman arrested, and found to be in possession of a “concealed” and loaded handgun, it would behoove TSA to do thorough “screenings”, especially of people such as McCaskill!

If she just would have paid the taxes on her private “corporate jet” she wouldn’t have to go through security like the rest of us bourgeois.

For what substance?

That asked, I don’t think she fertilizes her own yard and it may be just a bit early in MO to start that for your lawn or flower beds.

She’s the one who got rid of her ~$2MM airplane after the fact that she’d “forgotten” to pay local property taxes on it became public knowledge.

She is lucky to be a Senator, but must still be scared to death of Conservative Missourians because she has spent the past 2 years backpedaling after the Obamacare fiasco. I say she is just tweeting to ‘show’ how she stands with the majority of Missourians.

The key phrase here is “complained about the TSA’s security techniques in the past.”

Maybe the TSA types had it in for her. Who knows.

I have pins in my shoulder, and always get a pat down - first because I can’t lift my arm high enough for the naked picture one, and the wand always goes off on the other.
They do not laugh when you ask them if they are going to buy you dinner first.
Once in Denver, the supervisor came over and said ‘just move along’ and then yelled at the women TSA and said “use some common sense”.
Since we can have knives now, and studies show they let bombs through - why are we still bothering people who fly?

I know I will get flamed by this but over the past couple years I have flown 8 times. I have NEVER had a TSA person be rude to me, inappropriately touch me, go through my stuff, take anything, or any of these things I read about. I have never witnessed any of these things either.

And these trips have been through different airports, at different times of the day and days of the week. They were at busy times and slow times.

Perhaps a lot of this stuff we read about is brought on by the person complaining? I understand the occasional hitleresque person who searches grandma in a wheelchair or does a cavity search on a 7 year old - but where do all these things happen? And happen to whom?

Everyone I have dealt with at every level has been professional, courteous, and actually smiling.

Am I missing something?

I wonder why? Perchlorate is non-flammable and not a known “small dose” toxic chemical. It doesn’t have a noxious odor. Interesting.

The whole TSA thing is unnecessary, unconstitutional and disgusting. It conditions us to kowtow to the almighty government as if we are subservient quasi-felons. Whether the minions are rude or polite is irrelevant. They shouldn’t be doing what they are doing. And we shouldn’t put up with it. But we do. Because we are no longer Americans, but gutless sheep.

For the most part I agree with you. I too have been through a lot of airports and ALMOST always the screeners were professional and pleasant. But twice I have had bad experiences. The first was when I was coming back from Iraq. I came home wearing my uniform and still got had patted at every leg of the journey. Not only that, but my pistol was in my checked in luggage and my orders were in my hand. Common sense was on vacation that day. The next time, the person in-front of me had a belt buckle that had a picture of a pistol impressed into the buckle plate. The screener had no idea how to handle it, nor was she impressed when I commented that "if a buckle with a pistol on it was an issue, I'm glad I didn't wear a T-shirt with a tank on it."

I really don't see the need to screen (there are a lot of very good passive sensors now and the passengers are not going to allow a hijacking anymore), but maybe they want to train us to be sheep.

Guess she didn't love these pats.

From November 2010 (Fox News): The TSA is under fire for full-body scanning at airport security checkpoints. Critics say the security measure violates passenger privacy, but McCaskill favors the technique over TSA's only alternative - more hands-on body checks.

"I've had my love pats every single flight I have taken," McCaskill, who says she draws extra attention from airport screeners because of her knee replacement, related at the hearing. "So, I am wildly excited about the notion that I can walk through a machine instead of getting my dose of love pats."
