Heavenly Father,

We thank You for this day that You have made. Help us to rejoice and be glad in it as we think about You and all that You have done. You are our God and we thank You. You are our God and we praise You. We love You, Father, because You hear our voices and our supplications; because You bow down Your ear unto us, and because You answer us in ways far more wonderful than we can imagine or think.

Father, may our eyes behold Your goodness so that our bodies may be full of Your light. We hold up our military men and women to You and ask You to help them to be filled with the light of Your countenance as they serve in places that may be unsafe or unpleasant. Lord, use these days, months, and years in the lives of our troops to bring goodness and blessing to them. Help them to live in the light of Your love and grace.

Lord, even though our leaders may not be acting in the best interests of Israel, may the prayers of Your people from across this nation be used to bring blessing , hope, protection, and salvation to the Jewish people everywhere. Thank You for Your wonderful watchcare over them.

Lord, make us instruments of Your peace this day. Help each of us to be a part of America’s recovery---to lift her up in prayer each day, and to trust in You to help us repent for the sins of this nation. We call upon Your mercy, Lord, and Your grace to help us in this time of need. Return us to You, Lord God, and save us from ourselves. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
