Good Lord! I have successfully avoided DC all of my adult life.
The traffic and grid lock bugged me 30 years ago.
I would like to see the Smithsonian.
Maybe you could buy a shack in VA and keep the majority of your guns there.
There is tons of this stuff warehoused as surplus, and plenty of current production accurate stuff.
The surplus stuff aint that accurate, but it will drop a pig at 400 yds

Smithsonian(s) are worth seeing. You can see them all and walk The Mall in 3 days.
When we lived on The Hill we rode our bikes there very often. Except the Washington Monument, over rated and a pain in the arse to see.
There is very little the that I want to see outside of the Smithsonian.

Seeing an original draft of the Bill of Rights was neat. Amendment 3, "A well regulated militia..."
Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WW2 Memorial, , Holocaust Museum are all on The Mall. Totally worth seeing. The 7 Smithsonian’s take time but if you have a good pair of tennis shoes you can hack.
Avoid the Capitol and Washington Monument except looking at it and the seeing all the little statues and stuff around them is better than wasting the day trying to get in.

Once was Amendment 3? I did not know that.
I admire ya for being able to do it, but I got fed-up with crowded, high taxes and gun-grabbers 25yrs ago, and moved to PA, from NJ-NYC. Farm’s now sold and I’m moving east to York-Lancaster, into a suburban condo. I’ve had a CCW for the past 25yrs, and can’t imagine not having one.
I can’t recall what the original 1st was. It wasn’t adopted.
Original #2 had to do with press, religion, etc.
There were 12 proposed amendments in the draft I saw.
You’re in a blue state too, and I worry about it like I do Virginia.
