Posted on 03/10/2013 10:31:34 AM PDT by Olog-hai
The eight senators meet in private several times a week, alternating between Sen. John McCains and Sen. Charles Schumers offices. They sit in arm chairs arranged in a circle and sip water or soft drinks as they debate temporary workers and border security. In a capital riven by partisanship and gridlock, they are determined to be the exception and actually get something done.
This is immigration reforms Gang of Eight. With them lies the best hope in years for overhauling the nations byzantine immigration lawsand they know it.
The legislation the group is working on would secure the border; provide a pathway to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants already in the country, contingent on a secure border first; crack down on employers; and improve legal immigration. Senators have indicated some consensus on elements related to border security and the path to citizenship. They are struggling on the question of legal immigration and future workers, and are trading proposals with leaders of the AFL-CIO and Chamber of Commerce to try to get a deal.

TRANSLATION: “We need more Democrat voters!!!”
Eight fellow travelers on the road to perdition.
The Gang(arine) of Ate in a circle jerk?
Not a good sign.
This ‘gang’ includes RUBIO! He is dead meat as far as any vote from me for any national office in my book.
I don’t pander to mexican illegals, nor do I respond affirmatively to appeasement, intimidation or threats.
We won’t get mexican illegals’ votes because we relent. They are here to steal, pillage and download entitlement children, nor will they assimilate. GO HOME!!!!
The rush to surrender American sovereignty to Mexico.
Determined to get something done.
This is always code speak for giving the democrats everything they demand.
Having McCain on the list guarantees it.
Typically when they are making plans to screw their constituents and citizens, they like to do it behind closed doors. It makes for less issues.
By the way, Rubio is a fraud. If it took you (not Olog in particular) this long to figure it out, you haven’t been paying attention. A true conservative and friend of the people doesn’t participate in back room “Gang of...” meetings.
Rubio needs to get far away from John McCain, as does Sarah Palin. On a better note I don’t think we need to worry about Ted Cruz or Rand Paul smooching McCain’s butt any time soon. Some of our best people allow association with John McCain to drag them down.
I don’t give a crapwad that Rubio is of hispanic origin, nor where his parents come from. He has appeared to be conservative in his past statements, BUT his foray into appeasement of illegals and Americans of Hispanic origin with respect to ‘doing anything’ with respect to illegals except arresting and deporting them is a NO GO in my book
It makes me wonder about his other ‘conservative’ statements and makes me believe he’s nothing but another effing power-grubbing politician.
Doing this behind our backs...nice way of representing we the people...
Before the problem can begin to be fixed it would require honesty to the American people about the issues with illegals. As long as we have the fairy tale that they are all upstanding citizens who came here to work hard there is no honesty and can be no solution.
I imagine about the time this group gets ready to unveil their genius plan stories will be coming out of all the crimes the newly released from prison illegals are committing. That will be another thing they need to hide.
What was “byzantine” was the 1965 Immigration Act that literally demolished our country. The illiterates who knew nothing about the Constitution and cared only about handouts started overwhelming the system.
Strange how many of them seem to say the right things, then, shortly after winning, unleash the demons they really are.
Rubio will support any measure for amnesty, I expect Rand Paul to do the same.
The question of legal immigration and future workers, and are trading proposals with leaders of the *AFL-CIO* and Chamber of Commerce to try to get a deal.
Any qusetions on who owns the senate?.
Total bullcrap. There is nothing “Byzantine” about not allowing illegals from other countries.
