Gabby Gifford's husband, Mark Kelly, testifies against AR-15s, and then goes out and buys one
The Truth About Guns ^ | 3/10/14 | Nick Leghorn

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly using the emotion that comes from her 2011 shooting in Tuscon, Arizona to demand “something needs to be done” to stop “gun violence,” and that something (according to Mark Kelly) is the ban of “assault weapons.” He has testified to that effect before the U.S. Senate, as well as in Colorado. However, it appears that Mark Kelly is another shining example of the belief of the civilian disarmament folks that the same logic they use to try and disarm the general population doesn’t apply to themselves.

“Who do you think put him up to this?”

To what? Crusading for gun control, or buying the AR?

I was thinking something similar but thought that might be too crude to speculate on, but after his hypocrisy, I can totally see him doing this all for the sake of his agenda.

He purchased the rifle, and got his background check. The story continues, (paraphrased) “I will turn it over to the Tucson PD when I pick it up from the store.”.

I don’t think he has possession, yet.

Cheers

Only after the purchase was discovered did Mark Kelly post on his Facebook indicating that the AR-15 purchase was an impulse buy, and that he would be turning it over to the Tuscon PD as soon as he got it from the gun store.

How did this guy ever get into space?
He needs a psych eval.

You would think his wife would be completely freaked out that he bought any gun.

“You would think his wife would be completely freaked out that he bought any gun.”

Maybe she didn’t know.

I'd love to see that background check form. What was his intent regarding possession when he signed it.

May be either a prosecution or PR disaster here.

My point is that is one long lasting impulse.

I might as well not post my original comment because you said it WORD for WORD!!!!!! I too think that what happened to her was absolutely horrofic, BUT he is another story.

I can’t put my finger on it, but he is uber creepy and something about him seems not quite right & he strikes me as an opportunist of the highest order.

My point was that he did it to purposely discredit himself and, hopefully, be left alone over gun control. He’s from Texas and he’s white. So the odds are about 1 in 10 that he’s with the gun-grabbers, so he probably got sick of being a poster-boy for them.

All speculation, of course.

Actually, I feel like he is even CREEPIER than that. I get bad vibes about him

...ex-astronaut, (ex-military I assume)...typically a quiet, dignified man...wife suffers a horrible injury...an honorable man protects and nurtures her...especially protects her from the creepy Democrats who are eager to exploit her situation. Believe me, Democrats at this level are super-creepy...she doesn't need any of that. Kelly fails this test big-time.

political opportunist.

he appears, like her, to be only concerned with personal power. Sad for the astronaught program.

he did not chose wisely.

he is Dukakis/carter answering the rape question in a presidential debate. totally useless.

what is lower than spam in a can?

I've always thought that if his intention was to protect his wife, he would have kept both of them out of the limelight since the day of the shooting. His first obligation was to her welfare.

And in that same regard, if Gabby had really intended to serve her constituents, she would have resigned from Congress as soon as she was able to sign the paperwork. She would have realized she could not represent, or serve, her constituents after the shooting.

Of course, we are talking liberals here, and in the final analysis is it always about THEM ... not about THE PEOPLE.

Gabby is proof of the old Bob Hope joke about Democrats and zombies.
But you can’t kill them, just look at the evidence, shoot them in the head to destroy the brain......they don’t have any!!!!

He is the one who said it was an impulse buy.....”Only after the purchase was discovered did Mark Kelly post on his Facebook indicating that the AR-15 purchase was an impulse buy, and that he would be turning it over to the Tuscon PD as soon as he got it from the gun store.”
