>>To mitigate harm, parents should closely monitor what their kids are exposed to.<<
Especially plastic soldiers on top of cupcakes!
As a customer, I can personally endorse Cheaper Than Dirt - great prices on ammo!
Assault Catalog?
Did Cheaper Than Dirt do a background check on the kid when he requested the Catalog?
If the kid can surf the Internet, I’m sure he sees a whole lot of stuff worse than pictures of Guns.
Perhaps the idiot Mother should cancel their Internet Access Provider.
This Nation is full of nothing but idiotic whiners looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Me, me, me, just like Obozo.
Sounds like a woman who loves her son and is very responsible.
If I were “Cheaper Than Dirt” (a great outfit BTW) I would make certain no more catalogs were sent.
Let’s send a few prayers up for this good mother and her afflicted son.
People kill people, catalogues don’t.
Gun Retailer Begs Mother to Stop Giving Unfettered Internet Access to Her Mentally Ill Son.
I guess this mom couldn't be bothered. It was just easier to call the news and complain.
In contrast, I see nothing at all wrong with looking at pictures of guns. They are the means by which freedom and liberty are secured and are an essential part of American history. A responsible parent would use the gun catalog as a means learn about a core foundation of what makes our country great.
well parents don’t buy any guns for your son from the catalog!
I too am totally perplexed.
So, is this 15 year old so violent that through fear or force he has total control of the mail? His access to the mailbox cannot be stopped by any means his mother can provide? Mailbox lock? PO Box to forward mail? Nothing?
If this mother believes that her son is fully capable of causing another Sandy Hook, she needs to start calling people non stop until she finds either the help or secure facility this kid needs so he doesn’t harm others.
Tear out the tv set. Disconnect the internet. Control the environment to the extent possible.
Am I missing something?
According to the article, the only thing that seems to be wrong with this boy is ADHD and “criteria to be bipolar and sociopathic” (whatever that means).
ADHD is a learning disability, not a mental illness. Heck, most of ADHD is what, in my day, we referred to as “acting like a boy”. If you look at the classic symptoms, you can see them in most MEN in daily life.
So, they hang the stone of an “ADHD” diagnosis around his neck originally as a learning disability and then use that as a basis to say he may be mentally ill. Can anyone else see where this is going?
I don’t know this young man at all and this concern could be well warranted; but, it could also be that the mother, and not the son, is the one in need of help here.
I can’t get a gun company to stop sending my 15-year-old son catalogs,
I can’t get the republican party to quit sending me pleas for money but it’s cool, as long as I own a trash can.
It’s been a while since I’ve looked through a CTD catalog, but I don’t remember seeing guns in one, except airguns. Mostly ammunition and accessories. They might offer black powder guns; I can’t recall for certain.
I’d like to get the kid a subscription to Shotgun News, just to see the mother’s head explode.
Sounds like she’s abdicated her responsibility as a parent and is trying to CYA for fear of future events.
What a setup for internet regulation.
countrys top gun retailers, Cheaper Than Dirt
Its a gun retailer? Ive only seen ammo and accessories.
Where is the kid’s Dad? Dad needs to take charge of this home situation.
I am trying picture this phone call:
Mom: “Please please pleeeeeAAAAAAAAAAAAAAase I am begging you, stop sending catalogs”
CTD: “No”
I am just not seeing it....
We must stamp out thoughtcrime.
Oh Nos scary gun catalogs. Which the company has agreed to stop sending to both her address and the absent fathers. She cant control her offspring and it is some big evil gun and ammo companies problem. Kid with no discipline acts up in class, school declares him ADD (should be PADD, parent attention deficit diagnosis) so they drug him up rather than deal with problem. Dollars to doughnuts she is collecting Social Security disability for junior. Just seeing her reaction you know the divorce wasnt her fault, her kid is not her fault, the catalogs are not her fault, her inability to stop them isnt her fault, so the government should do something.
