>>usually we send a spy plane to pick up leaked isotopes, and the results are not published. Pretty sure from seismic results this was a nuke. Chemical explosives cannot be microsecond fast no matter how big. Look up Misty Picture or Minor Scale seismic profiles (kiloton conventional blasts).

I saw it too, Paki and Indian contemporaneous nuke tests are a solid cone from flash to finish. The Nork "nuke" had a double spike as if someone had screwed up the cap timing on the other side by a second. Then a sudden dip, and a growing rumble as the explosives thrown by the blast were ignited.

This is the 2013 one:

Same weird double spike and reanimating fade. Now look at real nukes.

Paki nukes

I have it on very good authority that China does not support NK. There is no open border between China and NK. The border between the two countries is a desolate place.

China has grown tired of NK asking for more and more assistance and implying that NK helped defeat Japan during WWII.

Meanwhile, Senior Senate Republicans were seen noshing with Barack Obama and lecturing Teaparty senators on protocol.

NK doesn’t have diddly squat in the way of nuclear warheads OR missiles that pose a realistic threat.

You are 100% correct. If they do it, the delivery would be by boat, probably via a container ship or sub.

They would be absolutely insane to do this. The problem is their leader is absolutely insane. The solution is not difficult. Smoke the little bastard off the face of the earth and call it a North Korean atomic accident.

xin lỗi about that!

It was somewhat easier to sleep when adults with US military allegiances ran Washington...

Hey, the Obama Administration is taking the obvious response to nuclear proliferation to multiple radical, terrorist states by cutting our nuclear arsenal to a proposed 300 devices.

You can sleep easy now!

They could barely put a toater sized object into a wobbly orbit.

They expect us to belive they are working ICBMs?

It’s a good thing for them that America doesn’t believe in hitting first.

it’s not open, but stuff goes back and forth and a certain number of people go back and forth via checkpoints. some are able to cross illegally. saw a documentary devoted to the border topic.

BTW, I STILL BELIEVE that these “nukes” are just a few thousand tons of urea based fertilizer that South Korea gave NK. South Korea has given them 1,000,000 tons in the last 10 years, nitrate and urea based.

I've been saying that since the first "fizzle", their results are nothing but a bluff. A chemical explosion of sufficient magnitude, spiked with the appropriate isotopes and noble gasses is a lot cheaper then actually going nuclear. Do you remember a couple of years ago, the Norks had an "industrial accident" that damn near erased one of their cities? A train loaded with "fertilizer" exploded as it was passing through a rail yard. There were rumors that it was sabotage and the plot was to take out Kimm the elder who's private train was scheduled to pass through the same rail yard. Kimm's train was delayed. I have satellite pictures of before and after and they show the city as decimated.

I'm guessing they bought the technology from the Pakistanis but couldn't afford to follow through with producing the hardware. A gun type design is simple, crude and easy to build but it is large and heavy, requiring a heavy bomber to carry it. If they faked a plutonium implosion device it would lend credibility to their threats of a missile attack.

The Red Chinese would give the Norks the whole package if they wanted them to have it. The Chinese will not do so because they do not want the crazy Koreans to start WWIII just when they have achieved economic ascendancy over the US and their "Manchurian candidate" is gutting our military. Why go to war and spoil all that real estate when all they need do is wait and the apple will fall right off the tree into their hands.

Regards,
GtG

Well, guess we’ll have to re-target a few of our missles toward North Korea..heh. There are those in this world that talk silly talk and this man is one of those. I’m sure that he knows the consequences so this is just a stupid statement by a dictator trying to get a rise out of his countrymen. Good luck with that...

Ah heck, in a huff we could always transfer a few smaller nukes to South Korea just to be sure...but why bother. Distance is not the problem - attitude is.

I thought it was a train consisting of hundreds of cars of LNG. I remember studying the before and after pictures closely. There was a boarding school near the station that was reduced to a cinder field. News reports were that thousands of people had been very badly burned, including many children. Medical aid and expertise was offered by many countries including the US; all was declined by NK.

The Dear Leader's private train had passed through the same switchyard hours (or maybe minutes) before the explosion.
