NEW YORK (AP) — A man suspected of fleeing the scene of a grisly New York crash that killed a pregnant woman and her husband was arrested at a Pennsylvania convenience store on Wednesday after a friend arranged his surrender, and he was ordered held without bail.

Acevedo is accused of speeding down a Brooklyn street at 60 mph early Sunday and crashing into a car carrying Nachman and Raizy Glauber. The Glaubers, both 21 years old, died Sunday, and their premature son, delivered by cesarean section, died Monday.

I read that he’s an illegal who had been deported back to the Dominican Republic. Someday I’m going to write a book on all the Americans murdered and killed by illegals.

When I read it, it was AT LEAST 60 mph, which in my mind means 80. Here's the intersection where it occurred. I went to Street View and matched it up to a news photo of the men standing along Kent Ave. in the middle of the night in their black suits and hats. Very touching, to me. They are famously "stoic" about such things. I use quotes because there might be some dispute as to priority.

However fast it was, it was fast enough to kill three people. The phrase “depraved indifference” pops to mind.

The thing is, I think this is a “type” of crash where the speed is so high that the victim doesn't perceive the oncoming vehicle as a threat, since it seems so far away, and pulls out in front of it. 60 just isn't fast enough to be in this category, IMHO, not with the impact that was reported. It was like they got hit with an artillery shell.

Interesting points. I’ll be curious to hear the investigation report.

This is such a sad, tragic situation.

This man is a thug, a career criminal.

He’s done hard time at Attica for killing the original hoodlum “50 cent” from whom the current Rapper took his name.

He had a DUI arrest a week or so before this crash.

I don’t know what his actually role in the murder was, if he’s really an illegal from DR, I think my head might explode, but here’s the deal:

He’s a crook, he’s out and about, he plowed into that cab and killed 3 people (so sad that the baby died too); but he will be treated with the utmost courtesy by our law system.

I am not saying that is bad (I have hope of courtesy should I ever mow down 3 people myself, because you know we can all be f-ups in our time) but you’ll not see Jesse Jackson, et al. defendinng this person. But they’ll be jumping all over G. Zimmerman, et al, that is to say any WHITE (or kinda/sorta white) person who might cause the death of any black (or kinda/sorta black) person.

But White (or kinda/sorta white) people can be killed with IMPUNITY.

THIS IS NOT OK.

Thank You, Ted Kennedy for making America part of the third world, that is really all I have to say.

I was just going to ask if he was an illegal.

Geez.. another illegal alien with a drinking problem, killing innocent people.

The saddest part is that a young family wiped out.

"Acevedo — whose long rap sheet includes the 1987 slaying of the man who inspired rapper 50 Cent’s stage name — had been staying in an affordable-housing unit at the swank Edge apartment complex in Williamsburg."
