It appears that the states are quietly taking up the gun control issues and relieving DC of that duty. I have been so focused on what is going on at the national level I completely forgot about the state level. Even with all of the noise from Colorado, I haven't heard a word in Florida until today...

There are 2 bills in the Senate in Florida #1670 http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2013/1670

and 1234 http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2013/1234

1670 is an Assault Weapons Ban and Large Capacity Magazine Ban and 1234 is an additional tax on Guns and Ammo to pay for Mental Health needs.

We as Floridians need to light up the phones and make sure that our duly elected officials know that we oppose any BANS and additional taxes... I suggested that they use some Obamacare money for the mental health issues.....

How about, “No?”

I won’t obey so-called gun laws. Why should you?

You have an *ABSOLUTE RIGHT* via 2nd amendment and “natural rights”. PERIOD.

I’m so sick of this.

Good post.
Thank you.

I'm in Texas and I watch our introduced bills carefully - so far the only gun-related bills have been Pro-gun... but you are right on to be watching all approaches for attack.

It's the same as having Feinstein waving her ban-everything hand over there, while dozens of bills are introduced to do the same thing, piecemeal, of over here.

These Libs are sneaky - we must be vigil!

The bottom line is, they can pass all the laws they want, but most people simply will not comply, and that will lead to disaster for government. Turning most of your population into criminals, only gives them the incentive to act like it, when they otherwise wouldn’t. It will be a can of worms that they will regret. The officials pushing this stuff, have an address, and a family.

Florida banning rifles and magazines? Until Obama won there last year I would have laughed.

From the Florida Constitution

SECTION 8. Right to bear arms.—
(a)
The right of the people to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and of the lawful authority of the state shall not be infringed, except that the manner of bearing arms may be regulated by law.
(b)
There shall be a mandatory period of three days, excluding weekends and legal holidays, between the purchase and delivery at retail of any handgun. For the purposes of this section, “purchase” means the transfer of money or other valuable consideration to the retailer, and “handgun” means a firearm capable of being carried and used by one hand, such as a pistol or revolver. Holders of a concealed weapon permit as prescribed in Florida law shall not be subject to the provisions of this paragraph.

In light of the Heller SCOTUS decision, I can’t see how any of these gun grabs pass judicial review.

Floridians, please find your state senator using the FL Senate District Maps, call and write to let them know the right to self defense is not to be infringed.

If we snooze, we lose.
