Hey Mark Kelly
a very rare vanity | 4 March | me

So I hear Mark Kelly is coming to Denver to testify in favour of all these gun control bills.

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: banglist; guncontrol; secondamendment
Hey Mark - I'd like to shake your hand and thank you for your service as an Astronaut.

But...

Do you realise that NONE of these bills/laws would have made a bit of difference in what happened to your wife? I'm sorry for her ordeal, I spent a long time in the hospital 2 years ago, I know how bad it sucks.

Did you know Sonny Carter? He was a family friend.

He was killed in a plane crash, along with Senator John Tower.

They're a lot more dead than your wife. Do you want to ban airplanes?

Ask him why his wife isn’t named Gabby Kelly.

Great. I just heard Tom Mauser is going to be there too. One of the most contemptible people I’ve ever encountered.

How about those 2700 “Street Sweepers” AKA tanks Big Sis has purchased for so-called Homeland Security? Are you sure no women and children will be harmed by them? Wake up Kelly, you are just another ‘useful idiot’.

**************

I had the privilege of knowing Sonny Carter during his tour as a USN Flight Surgeon with 3rd MAW (El Toro)....

What a great guy--

Sonny's career and his accomplishments are enshrined in the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame in Warner Robins, GA.

But his testimony will help his future political career with the lefties. Some might say he trading on his wife's tragedy.

Kelly instead should focus on identifying the mentally ill who represent a danger to others and themselves—such as the goofball who nearly killed Kelly’s wife.

Denver?

Until he brings his dog and pony show to Chicago and Detroit, he’s just another moral coward coveting political power above anything else.

He went to school with my sister. She has an autographed NASA picture. To this day it just amazes me, all the stuff he accomplished.

Is he going to trot out his unfortunate wife as a prop? She was generally a 2A supporter before the shooting and resultant brain injury. Now, in her condition, she parrots whatever the leftists feed her. It is disgusting to see the way they are using and abusing that poor woman. But it’s the Left, so what else should we expect?

I don't think Gabby will be there, but she doesn't have to be. We already have our new Sarah Brady.

And I agree, it is disgusting.

Here are the patches on my wall:

The top one is STS-33, which Sonny rode on. The star under the eagle's beak represents David Griggs, who was originally assigned to this mission, but was killed in a plane crash.

The bottom patch is STS-42, which Sonny was scheduled to fly, but was killed beforehand. The gold star represents Sonny.

A parade of Dem sob stories and emotionalism takes the place of Constitutional rights and logical solutions.

Ask him why his wife isn’t named Gabby Kelly.

Because he's not man enough for her to take his last name!

Could it be that they are PROGRESSIVES?

From Should Women Change Their Last Names After Marriage?

Excerpts...

"My wife is a very progressive woman," Jankstrom said. "She was like, 'I don't like your last name. I’m never going to be an 'owksy.'"

and...
Everyone should be able to choose his or her own name without being judged. I kept my last name, and my husband and I have always considered changing both our names to something new. We have no children, so there's never been a sense of urgency. But I have to say, it has always irked me when progressive couples I know have married, and she hyphenates, and he doesn't. I've known too many crypto-sexist liberal men not to give it a sideways glance.

And....
Truly, it's their choice -- but when neither or both parties change their last names, they seem to be on the same page. When a woman takes a man's last name, they seem also to be on the same page (tradition.) But hyphenation seems to imply a progressive, egalitarian sharing of last names, and when one person goes to the trouble of making this significant alteration, and the other doesn't, it implies that the hyphenator cares about parity and commitment, and the non-hyphenator doesn't care as much. Not that he doesn't care; just that it's not important to him. I don't mind the asymmetry, but the imbalance can be a bad sign.

And .....
I'm very progressive. When we got married, I never asked my husband to change his name. We simply each kept our original names.
