Clint Eastwood Pledges Support for Gay Marriage
Hollywood Gossip ^ | 03/03/2013 | by Hilton Hater

He's one of the few big-time celebrities who is also a big-time Republican.

But Clint Eastwood has veered from the viewpoint of many Conservatives in one regard: the actor signed the American Foundation for Equal Rights’s “Friend of the Court” brief this week.

In doing so, the actor became one of over 100 prominent Republicans to support this gay rights organization's document, which it has filed with the Supreme Court.

n April, the highest court in the land will listen to arguments about the legality of California’s Proposition 8, an amendment that passed in 2008 and which declares “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized" in that state.

Those such as Eastwood have affixed their name to this brief in the hope that this gay marriage ban will be overturned.

And recent poll revealed that 61 percent of CA residents would support marriage equality.

Well, the battle was not engaged by the Republican Party very strongly. Remember the reaction of the 1992 Convention to Pat Buchanan’s speech? The Republican Party was the pro-abortion party until it was outbid by the Democrats after Roe v. Wade. Even under Reagan, the pro-choice forces in the Party dampened Reagan’s and Judge Clarks’ pro-life iniatives.

Libertarians support homosexual marriage, it is part of their war against conservatism, libertarian politics are to advance libertarianism resulting in homosexualizing the military, gay marriage, abortion and so on, it is why they exist and cannot merely be conservatives, they are anti-conservative and that is their role in politics.

That is a brilliant point. Even I with my equally brilliant mind had not thought of that angle! I must be getting old haha.

I voted in 2005 for an addition to the Texas constitution that marriage is only between a man and a woman. The moment the SC decides to force legalization of this perverted crap onto my state of Texas, I’ll be 100% in the secession camp. The rest of America can just go burn to the ground at that point.

Foreigners have their views, but if he were American he would know that the US government had already moved against church imposed polygamy.

Hard to tell where the LDS stands on these issues, because theologically they don’t mesh very well with the Christian monogamy which serves as the basis of family law in this country. I should say the traditional Christian monogamy, since Luther found the Bible record to be ambivalent on the issue.

Libertarianism is the opposite of statism distinguishing the force of law. It’s not a measure of morality and tradition as defined by conservatism and liberalism.

The Libertarian party represents libertarianism as well as the Democrat party represents democracy, and the Republican party represents republicanism.

Conservative libertarianism does not put minors at risk, nor does it pass law that forces citizens to service and support homosexual behavior. It’s about smaller govt and deregulation. The statists disagree.

Statism is not good whether it’s servicing conservatives or liberals.

The lack of critical thinking on this subject typically yields brazen misrepresentations that cite pedophilia, prostitution, and retail heroin — pedantic forgeries not worth legitimizing.

Excellent post. The demonization of libertarianism is the current political target, focused on by both Liberals and RINOs. It consists of extreme misrepresentation and total avoidance of actual small-government issues that libertarianism is all about. And why? Because the Liberal-RINO axis is the opposite of the Libertarianism-Constitutionalist allies, that's why.

Social conservatives need to see the massive correlation between their positions and true libertarianism, before the enemy divides and conquers the Right. The ONLY way the retaking of the country from the communists will happen is the Right gets its sh!t together, and that means focusing on small government mechanisms COMPLETELY. It's time "conservatives" learned that the Founders intended people to live and let live, as long as the government was kept on a tight leash - and that's ALL the Founders intended.

It's called freedom, and those who intend to deny it for their own pet social theories are walking right into the communist trap - because the MECHANISM for social control is the SAME, Right OR Left. That's why we were given a Constitution of NEGATIVE rights, not positive privileges to be argued over by totalitarians of ANY stripe.

These are FACTS, and if they are ignored, America, the Great Experiment, WILL fail - NOT by intrinsic weakness of the system, but by a lack of wisdom of its people, who failed to understand and protect their Founder's precious gift.

"A Republic, Madam, if you can keep it."

- Benjamin Franklin

Liberty it self can be abused.

The problem we have now is that democrats are setting all sort of emotionally driven airy rules.
It’s topsey turvey world. There is no time to think.
They make us all sinners and sufferers to break us and tack the chains on other citizens necks so that we may have a pittance and consideration within the court.

They divide and conquer.
They break us of our will while saying they are building us up.

Dems are better about playing the angles than we are, but make no doubt, They want power.
We tend to wear our hearts on our sleeve.
Dems smile and feign outrage if it will advance power for them.

This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in it’s train wretchedness and oppression.”

Hell there are times I almost want to just give up fighting the whole gay marriage thing. Why shouldn’t they be miserable too. The in-laws alone...

Liberals attack libertarianism for supporting conservative economics, conservatives attack libertarianism for supporting such leftist ideas that they are to the left of the leftists.

Abortion and gay marriage are not rights, homosexualizing the military and removing the border patrol and INS is insane, promoting everything that goes against God isn’t a good thing and it will destroy America and make conservative economics impossible.

It's really amazing how many people who seem to have a clue or two about reality think that two sex perverts of the same sex have a right to "marry", and that this should be the law fo the land, and everyone who doesn't like it is bigoted/homophobe/barbarian/mean spirited and we should all be forced to celebrate sodomy.

The entire gay marriage thing is wrapped in Christianity and love to infiltrate the Church.

It is a Trojan horse.

I can't figure out why any Libertarian would support the 'Marriage Equality' movement. It looks like statism to me. It infringes on religious liberty and property rights. Last year, a New Mexico Court ruled that Christian photographers cannot refuse to photograph a “gay wedding” on religious grounds. Certainly, a Christian photographer shouldn't be forced to participate in a gay wedding. This stuff is insane. It's oppressive and has no place in a free society.

I thought I was alone in seeing that, That is what this is about.

The very people that scream about separation of church and state are using the state to infiltrate the church.
