Mayor Michael Bloomberg has urged New York State to adopt his ban on large sugary drinks.
The city has jurisdiction over restaurants, movie theaters, fast food restaurants and street carts, but not supermarkets or convenience stores that do not serve prepared foods.

Use your bully pulpit to tell people what is wrong with sugary drinks. Don’t force people with laws! Not only is it totalitarian, it doesn’t work. I believe pot is banned in NYC too? How’s that working for you?

When the big bloomers closes down NYC bathhouses and enforces immigration laws in Chinatown, I will beleive he is more concerned about public health than being Queen for the day.
I wish I were a better person, but I’m not — I hope Bloomberg meets a sudden end, and soon. It would be most appropriate if he got, for example, a sudden fatal allergic reaction to some small portion diet food item. I’d pee my pants laughing.
