Mayor Michael Bloomberg has urged New York State to adopt his ban on large sugary drinks.
The city has jurisdiction over restaurants, movie theaters, fast food restaurants and street carts, but not supermarkets or convenience stores that do not serve prepared foods.

He may have a tougher time with this than with the “safe act”(?) since it’s likely that the legislature has more interaction with sugary drinks than with guns. What a self serving radical left wing extremist demokkkrat scumbag this clown is. Does he have any stock in coke or pepsi?

I’m glad to see Bloomie realizes New Yorkers aren’t smart enough to make good decisions about health.
I’m distressed that he thinks they are smart enough to vote in federal elections.
How about banning the consumption of alcohol too! Think of the health benefits! No more drunk drivers etc... I think we tried that once.... did work out so well.

Well, New York city is now a despotic state. Does anyone deny this? Even liberals I think know it as I heard them complain about the despot. I read last year the despot is demanding all landlords submit a list of all the people who smoke in their apartments, which is an invasion of privacy. Good. I hope he installs cameras in their bedrooms next. “Tyranny can never happen in the USA! We don’t need guns!” LOL!

Actually he’s more of a despot. He’s proven that tyranny can take root and exist in the USA. Two weeks ago Mr. Despot issued an edict banning 2 liter sodas with pizza deliveries. So if you’re having a card game with a few of your buddies and want some pizza, the delivery guy has to bring a bunch of smaller bottles of soda because the Despot has decided adults are not responsible enough to handle 2 liter bottles. Last year he also issued an edict demanding landlords submit a list to the city of all the tenants who smoke in their apartments. Sort of like “Send a list of all the Juden”.

Decades ago when the government started banning substances like drugs people stood up and said what business is it of the governments to tell us what we can and cannot do. Many people responded they thought the concept of government power to ban things is good for us, that drugs were bad. The first group said the concept isn’t about drugs specifically but the idea the government had authority to ban anything in the first place.
Well, now the government is doing exactly what the first group knew they would do and that is ban more and more common things like sugar.
Totalitarianism. That’s what the first group was warning about. Too late.
I’m hoping the democrat morons in NY follow his lead. The stupider they act, the sooner normal people will abandon them. And again, shame on the GOP for not using enough of the democrat antics to paint them as they are.
It easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than it is for a billionaire to govern ethically and reasonably.
‘Sugary’ instead of ‘sweet’. Clever, isn’t it? Like ‘marraige equality’ instead of ‘gay marriage’. I suppose various organizations do focus-group research to find exactly the right words.
