GOP strategist Karl Rove said Saturday that rebuilding the Republican brand in California will be a tough task that will require them to diversify and create a strategy to spread their message to a wider audience.

Referring to the state party’s deep losses in recent years, Rove said it needs to focus on larger themes of restoring jobs and reducing government spending.

He also said the party must recruit candidates who reflect the diversity of the country, and in particular, California. By next year, Hispanics will overtake whites as the state’s largest demographic group. …

I think Karl Rove initially supported the gay democrat over Marco Rubio, and then, as I recall, he gave no support to Allen West. He doesn’t want diversity, he wants liberals.

Rove: GOP needs candidates who reflect diversity

The 2012 GOP diversity push was an electoral disaster of epic proportions, in a year when Republicans should have won everything on every ballot from dogcatcher to demigod, from coast to coast.

If at first you epic fail, then fail and fail again.

He also said the party must recruit candidates who reflect the diversity of the country

We need to recruit candidates who are constitutionalists.

If he is a constitutionalist, I don't care what he looks like.

And if he's not a constitutionalist, whats the point?

I thought the once great Rove was in Costa Rica enjoying a much needed (by us) retirement.

When I say “the hook” it’s the use of the word by old New Yorkers who grew up attending vaudeville shows. If an act was through, bombing, they’d give it the “hook”, literally reach out with a big hook and drag the guy off the stage with it.

It’s time.

Many very wise folks knew Romney, God bless him, would not work out. Not before, during or after the election in any outcome.

The likes of Karl Rove and John McCain are what is wrong with the GOP.

There was a youngish conservative black girl running in CA who I thought sounded really good but she got hammered in her election. Can’t remember her name. But as I recall her - she seemed to be what we’re looking for, real conservatives of color. So what happened?

And what about Sarah - who cares what color she is - she has the right principles - were was the GOPe when she was getting crucified?

Yes; funny how the GOP-e did that to a woman no matter her race or alleged “ethnicity”, “diversity” be damned.

Oh, no, we’re all getting past that Constitution business, dontcha know.

Teh govt officials, politicians, that is, they swear to uphold it, but it’s really all about race, gender, personal likes, dislikes and getting away from respecting the Founding Fathers ‘cause they were white. . . men. And they’re old. They were old when they thought it up and they’re really old now.

But it’s not discrimination based on race, gender or age.

Big tent. Go liberal.

I tend to think California is basically a lost cause (no offense intended towards CA-based FReepers) at the Presidential level. The demographics just are too stacked too heavily in the Democrats’ favor. Even Lurch Kerry managed to take the state by double-digits in 2004.

I do think it’s possible to make some gains at the state and local level, though. IMHO, there could be a gold mine of votes among Cali’s 5 or 6 million Asians. I think that could (again, IMHO) be especially true among Korean-Americans. I live in a town (not in CA, btw) with a large Korean community, and it seems to me the GOP message of self-reliance, pro-small business and pro-family would resonate strongly there. I have never seen anyone work harder for the American dream than the Korean immigrants who’ve come to my town and set up shop for this family business or that.

Of course, I’m not suggesting all Koreans or all Chinese, etc. feel a certain way. Just that I think the GOP could be very competitive in some of those ethnic groups without having to play along with Rove’s notion of giving up principle for electability.

I agree with you. He likes those country club, big tent liberals with the R behind their names.

This time around he’d prefer their names end in a vowel...LOL.

Like clock work, Hannity will have him on his radio (and T.V.) shows next week with his pathetic, a$$ kissing introduction:

“Here he is, the Architect, Karl Rove! How are you my friend?”

I haven't listened to or watched Hannity for a few years now. On the rare times I did tune in, he's usually a$$ kissing guys like Rove and McCain.
