A Long Island Republican says his vote in favor of New Yorks new gun-control law was a mistake and is now co-sponsoring a bill to repeal it.
Freshman Sen. Phil Boyle, R-Suffolk County, issued a news release on Friday detailing his change of heart, criticizing the way the bill was rushed through the Legislature. The new lawknown as the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, or SAFE Actviolates the Second Amendment, Boyle claims.
From Boyles statement:
The so-called SAFE act was a mistake. Its passage lacked transparency and public input and its wording was ill-conceived and of questionable legality. Lawmakers ...

Um....ya know what? If some RINO needs to vote YEA for a piece of Communist crap legislation before he realizes it was a mistake needs to either learn to read or get a frakkin’ backbone. Either way, he is unfit to hold the office he was elected to.
Maybe zat fuhrer idea vasn’t zo hot. - Alfred Krupp
Another scumbag politician trying to have it both ways.
He will be able to debate himself in the next election campaign.
A “mistake”? A mistake is dialing the wrong telephone number. You very purposely went along with this power grab.
Own it and burn, turd.
Anyone who votes for these treasonous (yes, treasonous) bills is not fit to hold office and should be run out of town on a rail. Vote yes to bills like this and you become the enemy forever.....no other way to say it.
IT’S TIME TO BRING THESE SCUMBAGS TO THE HANGING TREE!!!
I guess the putz had to pass it to find out what was in it.
Looks like his neighbors saw things differently.... what a dimwit....
Ain’t no such thing as a legislative mulligan.
” Either way, he is unfit to hold the office he was elected to.”
Agreed. If Boyle is trying to make amends for his useful idiot vote, he should be calling for the treason trial of the Nazi Cuomo.
People need to realize that sides are being chosen.
Either you got the kahones to confront the fat-ass, 80 IQ, 400-pound federal slugs or you don’t.
Political theater. He delivered for his masters, and now he is testing to see how stupid his voters are. Probably as stupid as he takes them for.
Surely there is a TEA Party member who can run against this clueless Rep. If you can’t understand the bill, check out who is supporting it. That ought to give you all the information you need.
Give him a break. A bill was rushed through in a nighttime session. He didn’t have time to read it or even think about it. He barely had enough time to vote.
It’s simple, Phil. You voted for it, you own it.
Wow! Are some finally figuring out that the Scam on Assault Weapons wasnt such a good idea and that there really isnt a massive groundswell to dispense with liberty?
what you said
Hey, Stupid! It WASN’T A MISTAKE, YOU DID IT ON PURPOSE!
Then, you found out that you were a DUMB F***K who stampeded with the rest of the herd of lemmings, right over the cliff!
Now, after the fact, you want a redo! NO MULLIGANS IN POLITICS AHOLE.
You are TOO STUPID to stay in office.
GOTCHER EFFIN “MISTAKE” RIGHT HERE!
bung faced mofo.
I met with him yesterday before the rally as did several other of his unhappy constituents. Nice enough guy. I hope he has gotten the message and will follow through. Time will tell.
Probably not seeing the light, just looking at the floor and sensing something...
Yep. When he's at lib and RINO events he can tout his vote for SAFE. When he tried to woo the conservatives he can (try to) point to this bill. Pathetic.
Precisely. This country doesn't need craven weathervane politicians! Those are Karl Rove politicians. It needs politicians with character who can be counted on to do the right thing.
Well, maybe not the hanging tree. Tar and feathering and riding out of town on a rail would be good, though.
Yet, despite all that, he voted for it. You think this indicates anything remotely approaching sound judgement on his part?
Could it be a blessing in disguise?
Maybe people will wake up and vote out these RiNO & Commie bastards.
That you, Karl?
Stupid A$$ F-——g Elitist Act, or SAFE Act
Why does every law have to have a convoluted acronym?
Consider WHERE the embattled farmer stood. Today they would stand while their “assault rifles” were confiscated and they would be jailed by the powers-that-be in Concord and Lexington, while liberals made fervent anti-gun speeches.
What an idiot.
The big angry town hall meetings that have been going on in NY the past few days is now spooking them.
Lance the Boyle.
“Another scumbag politician trying to have it both ways.”
Just where does the GOP dig up these turds? This is about as inept a man as you could find!
“bung faced mofo.”
Hey Çonrado, send this directly to this fecal matter. Just make sure you use a Zip code in his district. I do it all the time. For Texas congresscritters, I put down that I live in Swollen Groin, TX (thank you Jackie Gleason), but it still goes through!
It's New York. The state is covered with them.
Here’s his bio ( lawyer, Mc Lame supporter, member of the Sierra Club
Yea, he’s just the kind of “Republican” New Yorkers expect:
Boyle attended SUNY at Geneseo and then completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Political Science degree in 1983. He received a Master of Public Administration degree from SUNY at Albany and a law degree from Albany Law School, both in 1987.
After serving on the staff of former U.S. Representative Rick Lazio, Boyle was first elected to the state Assembly in 1994, and did not seek reelection in 2002, honoring a term-limits pledge. He returned to the state Assembly after winning a special election on February 28, 2006.
Boyle was a delegate for John McCain being one of the few New York elected officials to endorse McCain before the primaries where most endorsed Rudy Giuliani. He served as a delegate for NY in 2012 and was among the first to endorse Mitt Romney.
Philip Boyle is a founding partner in a law firm Steinberg & Boyle LLP, located in East Islip, New York. He is an active volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in the Great River Fire Department. Boyle is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Sierra Club. He and his wife Victoria Ryan live in Bay Shore, New York.
Over my dead body. And I mean that in a very real and literal way.
I would love to see people in some state[s] tar and feather their elected congressman.
Sort of like Judas trying to return the thirty pieces of silver.
No, but he sounds like nearly every politician in any country in the world. Why does this type rise up and how do they get elected?
