Sen. Reid to the Press: ‘You Guys Have an Obligation to Report’ that Democrats Are Right February 28, 2013 By Elizabeth Harrington

(CNSNews.com) – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that the news media have an “obligation” to report that the Republicans are “unwilling to do what the American people want done” on looming automatic, across-the-board budget cuts.

During a news conference on Capitol Hill held on the eve of implementation of the cuts, known on Capitol Hill as “The Sequester,” a reporter asked Reid: “Can you understand the frustration of the American people that you’re blaming the Republicans, the Republicans are blaming you and nobody is talking until the day that these cuts kick in?”

Reid replied: “You know I read an editorial today, and I don’t know whether it was the Times or the Post, where the op-ed writer said, ‘You know, let’s call it the way it is. The Republicans aren’t willing to deal with the Democrats.

“So all this stuff -- Democrats aren’t doing anything, Republicans aren’t doing anything --I believe that you guys have an obligation to report it the way it is,” he said.

“This isn’t something that happened yesterday, we’ve been fighting this for a couple years,” Reid added. “They’re unwilling to do what the American people want done. And it’s as simple as that.”

Prior to his comments, Reid proposed dealing with sequestration in a “balanced” way by closing tax loop holes on the wealthy and asking “millionaires to pay a little bit more.”

“I really believe the American people deserve better than what the Republicans in this building believe is the right thing,” he said.

Doesn’t that also imply an obligation to report when they are wrong? But it never seems to work out that way, does it?

If the Media were not owned and operated by the Media harry Reid would be a joke.

The sequestration was Obama’s idea. A Democrat idea.

If they don’;t like the result they should not have come up with the idea.

Saying the American people want Republicans to continue us into deeper and deeper debt is BS Harry, and you know it.

Weed, er Reid gets it wrong...this is not majority rule no matter what they want. It is a republic wherein those elected swear to uphold and defend the Constitution, not vote the way their constituents say to vote. If voting was based on how constituents wanted the vote, there would be no on demand abortion, no Obamacare for instance.

The sequestration was Obama’s idea. A Democrat idea.

Not only was it Obama's idea, but it was his demand for agreeing to sign the budget extension in 2011.

Who would have thought sequestration would be so cool? The Democrats are facing real spending cuts. Obama, Reid and Pelosi are screaming and nobody is being fooled with the threats. Hope the Republicans have learned a little about pulic relations and stay the course.

I was shocked to hear a reporter on NBC nightly news with Brian Williams, on Wednesday night, said that this whole sequester business is a “manufactured crisis”.

Harry is such miserable little POS, there is no point in writing his office.

What is needed is a very public rebuttal, slamming his lies.

This needs to occur on a very regular basis.

I don’t know of a single person that I’ve talked to lately, Republican or Democrat that’s against the sequester. Most believe its the ONLY WAY to cut government spending and start reigning in the all intrusive government behemoth.

In short, they’re saying enough is enough and start cutting already. They’ve had to do it in their family budgets and don’t understand why the government refuses to cut anything at all.

I think we may have finally reached the tipping point on government spending.

The sequestration was Obama’s idea.

Can you direct me to where I can prove that in an argument? I know there is proof somewhere. Thanks, V_TWIN

"Hope the Republicans have learned a little about public relations and stay the course."

Note what the House Republicans did in order to make this happen: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Hopefully they'll learn from this. Whenever they pass anything, the only thing they get for it is scorn. They get scorn from Obama, the Democrats, and the press. Obama won. Let him propose legislation. He's too incompetent and dumb to do anything, and right now, status quo beats a bad deal anytime.
